Position Summary:

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot problems with electrical systems and equipment for the delivery of water, wastewater, and recycled water services.

Duties (Not limited to):

• Installs, configures, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, and repairs a large variety of industrial communications, instrumentation, and controls equipment including data radios, pressure/flow/temperature transducers, chemical analyzers, valve actuators, motor starters, and variable frequency drives (VFD).
• Programs and modifies Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) ladder logic code in support of plant operations.
• Modifies HMI control screens using system software to allow for operation and monitoring of physical equipment.
• Configures data acquisition and historical logging.
• Provides technical input and identifies operability issues, equipment preferences, and process performance limitations that may arise throughout the maintenance of current facilities and in the design and construction of new facilities.
• Troubleshoot electrical (up to 480VAC), instrumentation, mechanical and pneumatic failures; decide and execute course of actions.
• Install new electrical equipment (up to 480VAC) per NEC requirements;
• Perform preventive, predictive, and conditional maintenance on various assets including pumps, motors, VFD’s, PLC’s, transducers, meters, probes, breakers, controllers, etc.
• Safely utilize technical tools such as Multi-meters, Thermal Imagery, and Signal Simulators.
• Coordinate 3rd party contractors as required to accomplish maintenance activities.
• Utilize CMMS software to track, trend, and complete work orders.
• Respond to on/off-duty emergencies and participate in on-call rotation.
• Develop and document maintenance schedules.
• Analyze work history, asset condition and costs.
• Plan maintenance or replacement activities.
• Manage physical inventory and supplier stock.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel as needed.
• Work in other areas as needed.

Necessary skills:

• Experience with highly instrumented and automated SCADA systems.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electro – mechanical systems using schematic diagrams.
• Strength in mechanical and hydraulic systems and concepts.
• Solid understanding of PLC functionality and layout.
• PLC, P&ID and ladder logic experience is highly desirable.
• Must be able to safely work on electrical systems up to 480VAC.
• Decisiveness for course of action.
• Outstanding logistical, organizational, coordination and planning skills.
• Ability to maintain in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment.
• Able to lift 50 lbs. and work at ambient temperatures year-round.
• Strength in both following and leading; Team and individual work.

Qualifications:

• Formal training and at least three years’ experience in an Instrumentation and Controls related field.
• Clear evidence and demonstration of experience and knowledge of listed skills.
• Must possess a valid AZ drivers license and clean driving record.

Physical Demands: Must be able to perform the following on a regular basis: Sitting for extended periods; prolonged periods of time with repetitive motions of hands and fingers; close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus; climb stairs and ladders.
