This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy located in Traverse City, Michigan. This is a hybrid role and requires reporting onsite 3 days a week. Candidates should live within 30-50 miles within Traverse City service center.
Project Coordinator – Electric Distribution
Position Summary
The Project Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end execution of electric service delivery for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This role requires a working knowledge of the electric distribution system and the ability to coordinate multiple project elements to meet customer expectations and company standards. The Project Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring seamless communication and project progression from initial scope through final construction.
The ideal candidate demonstrates adaptability, initiative, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service. They must be capable of quickly learning business processes, applying technical knowledge effectively, and contributing to the successful completion of complex projects.
The ideal applicant should exhibit the ability to analyze complex problems, recommend alternatives, and take corrective action, while exhibiting in-depth knowledge of the policies and procedures of the business. It is also critical to:
- Possess excellent communication and customer service skills
- Successfully multi-task and/or switch task quickly while remaining organized
- Anticipate and understand the impact of actions/procedures on multiple systems
- Demonstrate leadership skills, strong teamwork and the ability to work independently on assigned complex projects
- Use computer assisted drafting (CAD) or other appropriate systems/software/programs such as SAP to accommodate customer's request and align with internal quality control processes
- Manage project milestones; organizing and prioritizing the scheduling of work assignments in response to work orders
- Possess strong computer (Windows, Microsoft Office) and analytical skills
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement & Coordination
- Serve as the primary representative (“face”) of Consumers Energy to customers.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between customers, internal departments, and external stakeholders.

Provide timely updates on project status and address customer inquiries and concerns.

Project Planning & Execution
- Manage projects of varying size and complexity, prioritizing work to meet customer-required timelines.
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, including scoping, design, billing, permitting, scheduling, and field construction.

Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring milestones are achieved.

Project Scoping & Design Support
- Evaluate and analyze electric distribution system requirements and impacts.
- Gather and define customer project scope to support accurate work order preparation.

Identify necessary permits and regulatory requirements.

Operational Coordination
- Generate and assign tasks across departments to support project progression.
- Coordinate prerequisites needed for successful project execution, applying sound judgment and established procedures.

Schedule work orders and collaborate with field operations to meet customer commitments.

Field Work
- Conduct on-site visits with customers as required (approximately 30% of time).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.

- Proficiency with computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office and SAP or similar enterprise systems.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a construction or technical field (minimum of 48 scientific/technical credit hours), or
- Completion of at least two years of college coursework (60 credits) toward a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a utility or related field.
Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $25.18 - $33.57/hr
