Entry Level H-2B Visa Jobs
H-2B visa sponsorship is employer-driven and season-specific, which means entry level roles in hospitality, landscaping, construction, and resorts open up on a fixed annual cycle. Employers must petition USCIS before you arrive, so the jobs that appear here have already committed to sponsoring your status.

Pull your O*NET job zone early
H-2B visa covers non-agricultural temporary work, but the role must be classified as a genuine short-term need. Check O*NET to confirm your target occupation's job zone and typical entry requirements before applying, so you don't waste time on ineligible roles.
Target employers in recurring seasonal industries
Resorts, golf courses, amusement parks, and landscaping companies file H-2B petitions year after year. Focusing on employers with a documented seasonal pattern means they already know the DOL recruitment and prevailing-wage process, which reduces filing errors that delay your start date.
Understand the cap split and apply accordingly
USCIS divides the 66,000 annual H-2B cap into two equal halves: October through March and April through September. If your target season is summer, you're competing in the second-half cap, which fills fast. Confirm your employer files as early as the petition window opens.
Search H-2B roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters jobs by employers who have filed H-2B petitions with DOL, so every listing you see reflects a real sponsorship commitment. That's faster than cold-emailing seasonal operators who may not know the petition process at all.
Verify your employer has received DOL certification
Before accepting any offer, confirm the employer's temporary labor certification from DOL has been approved. Without it, USCIS won't accept the I-129 petition. Ask your prospective employer to share the certified ETA-9142B form directly.
Prepare a clean employment history before the offer stage
Consular officers review your previous U.S. work history when adjudicating the H-2B visa. Gaps, unreported jobs, or prior status violations flag the application. Organize your work history chronologically and resolve any prior immigration issues before your employer files.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of entry level jobs qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B covers temporary, non-agricultural positions where the employer can demonstrate a one-time, seasonal, peak-load, or intermittent need. Entry level roles most commonly sponsored include housekeeping, groundskeeping, amusement park attendants, ski resort workers, and general construction laborers. The position must be classified under a specific DOL occupation code, and the employer must show that qualified U.S. workers aren't available for the role.
How do I find employers who are already approved to sponsor H-2B workers?
Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with active H-2B DOL filing history, so you can identify sponsors without researching each company individually. Employers who have filed before understand the certification timeline, prevailing-wage requirements, and I-129 petition process, which makes the hiring experience more predictable for entry level applicants who haven't navigated sponsorship before.
Can I switch H-2B employers if a better opportunity comes up?
You can change employers on H-2B status, but the new employer must file a separate I-129 petition and obtain their own DOL temporary labor certification before you start work. There's no portability mechanism like some other visa types. Your current petition is tied to the petitioning employer, so a job change restarts the filing process entirely.
What happens to my H-2B status when the season ends?
H-2B status is tied to the certified employment period on the employer's petition. When that period ends, you have a 10-day grace period to depart the U.S. If your employer needs you longer, they can file for an extension before your status expires, but extensions are limited and the total authorized period under H-2B cannot exceed three years without departing and resetting eligibility.
Does the H-2B cap affect when I can start looking for jobs?
Yes, directly. USCIS processes H-2B petitions against two cap halves each fiscal year, and petitions can only be filed 90 days before the certified employment start date. If the cap fills before your employer's petition is accepted, your start is delayed until the next cap period. Targeting employers who begin the DOL certification process months in advance gives your petition the best chance of landing before the cap closes.
