Executive Assistant Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a executive assistant job in San Diego?
Focus your search on San Diego's densest hiring corridors: downtown's financial and legal district, the biotech and life sciences clusters in Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley, and the defense contractors concentrated in Kearny Mesa and Miramar. Candidates who stand out locally combine polished calendar and board-meeting management skills with experience supporting C-suite leaders in fast-moving, regulated industries. Tailoring your resume to the sector, whether biotech, defense, or professional services, gives you a clear edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire executive assistants in San Diego?
Companies currently hiring executive assistants in San Diego include Sony, Airgain, and Sheraton, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. San Diego's mix of publicly traded biotech firms, large defense primes, regional banks, and professional services offices means steady, year-round demand across a wide range of employer sizes and cultures.
Are there remote executive assistant jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though executive assistant roles are less remote-friendly than purely analytical positions because the work often involves in-person logistics, executive presence, and on-site coordination. About 50% of executive assistant openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at tech-adjacent and professional services firms. Fully remote roles tend to favor candidates who specialize in scheduling, correspondence, and project coordination rather than hands-on office management.
How can I get a executive assistant job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is landing an administrative coordinator or receptionist role at a biotech startup, a downtown law firm, or one of the many mid-size defense contractors in Kearny Mesa, then moving into executive support once you've built internal credibility. Community college certificate programs at San Diego Mesa College or Southwestern College give you a verifiable credential that resonates with local hiring managers. Demonstrating proficiency in scheduling tools, travel coordination, and professional written communication gets your resume past initial screens at even competitive employers.
