Field Service Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a field service manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's energy and industrial sectors, where field service manager demand is heaviest. The Energy Corridor and Greenspoint area concentrate oilfield equipment, pipeline, and automation employers, while Westchase draws industrial services firms. Candidates with hands-on technical backgrounds in oilfield services, HVAC, or heavy equipment, combined with demonstrated team leadership, stand out most in this market. Tailoring your resume to upstream and midstream operations will sharpen your edge locally.
Which companies hire field service managers in Houston?
Employers hiring field service managers in Houston right now include Hitachi Rail, Powell Industries, and ABB, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's hiring base skews heavily toward oilfield services firms, industrial equipment manufacturers, and large-scale utilities and infrastructure companies with regional operations centered in the city.
Are there remote field service manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, but only partially. Field service manager roles are inherently hands-on, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 33% of field service manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, typically covering scheduling, reporting, and customer coordination duties. On-site supervision of technicians and client site visits remain in-person requirements for most Houston employers.
How can I get a field service manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is moving up from a field service technician or service coordinator role within the energy or industrial equipment sector. Houston employers, particularly oilfield services companies and HVAC contractors, frequently promote technically strong technicians into supervisory positions. Building experience on rotating field assignments, earning manufacturer certifications for common Houston equipment brands, and demonstrating crew coordination on small projects signals readiness for a management role locally.
Which industries hire the most field service managers in Houston?
The sectors hiring the most field service managers in Houston are Manufacturing, Distribution & Wholesale, and Waste Management & Environmental Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's concentration of upstream oil and gas operations, petrochemical facilities, and large-scale industrial infrastructure makes it one of the highest-demand markets in the country for this role.
