Our Field Service Team is growing! We are in need of an experienced Field Service Technician! The Field Service Technician will provide customer onsite diagnosis, maintenance, repair, installation, and/or removal of complex electromechanical motors and equipment. This technician will also service new motors and/or equipment for customers. This Field Service Technician should be experienced and comfortable working independently on medium to large customer accounts and/or complex jobs.
Please Note: This role is in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
When out on a Field Service job, the Technician will be paid an additional rate of $10.00/hour.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Read work scopes to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability
- Analyze and diagnose motors and equipment prior to repair and/or removal
- Determine if repairs can be completed in the field or if equipment needs to be sent to the shop for repair
- Disassemble complex electromechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration, and condition
- During disassembly, properly mark parts, take photos, and thoroughly complete paperwork to ensure accurate job completion that meet company and ISO standards
- Repair, install, and/or remove complex motors and equipment
- Perform test of electromechanical equipment and document accordingly. Troubleshoot known or suspected problems
- Operate Megger, DC Hypot, Surge Tester, AC Hypot Volt-Ohm Meter, Amp Meters, and Feeler Gauges as needed on jobs
- Connect leads and test run on proper voltage
- Be aware of any abnormalities in test run (head, rubbing, noise, etc.)
- Retest reassembled electromechanical equipment for proper output and operation
- Read and draw diagrams of motors and parts
- Clean electromechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps including but not limited to parts washers/steamers, caustic tanks, and glass bearers
- Thoroughly inspect parts for wear and damage and record any worn or damaged parts
- Measure for and note proper replacement parts
- Requisition needed items as approved by foreman
- Store parts accurately according to job status or work scope after the dismantling process. Ensure ISO standards are met for storage
- Lift, tighten, adjust, and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work duties
- Maintain thorough paperwork throughout entire repair process including all test sheets from receiving unit description to Quality Control Checklist. Record accurately and on a timely basis
- Based on FLANDERS' locations and customer needs, perform motor circuit analysis using PdMA equipment
DUTIES & QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree and/or trade school degree in electrical or mechanical studies preferred
- At least four years hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical equipment
- AC and/or DC experience and knowledge including working with small or large (horsepower) motors and equipment
- Strong interpersonal skills working directly with customers at the customer's work sites
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with little direction on a daily basis
- Ability to work in a team on complex customer jobs
- Ability to perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division including understanding fractions and percentages
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions
- Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job related training, operational, and safety procedures
- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to routine duties within set company standards
- Ability to operate overhead cranes, fork lift trucks, and other equipment
- Ability to operate various hand tools and drill press
- Although seldom, ability to work in confined spaces
- Frequent travel including overnight required
- Vibration Institute certification, Category I or II, or must be working toward certification (strongly preferred)
