Finance Analyst Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance analyst in Minnesota?
Most Minnesota employers require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration as the baseline. Minnesota does not mandate a state-issued license to work as a finance analyst, but earning the Chartered Financial Analyst designation through the CFA Institute significantly strengthens candidacy at banks, asset managers, and corporate treasury teams based in Minneapolis. Many candidates also complete internships with local firms before their first full-time hire.
How much do finance analysts make in Minnesota?
Finance analysts in Minnesota earn a median of about $102,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $65,290 for the lowest 10% to over $161,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire finance analysts in Minnesota?
Minnesota finance analyst roles are posted by Target, Fastenal, and General Mills and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in the Twin Cities metro means corporate finance teams here tend to be large and hire at multiple levels throughout the year.
Which Minnesota cities have the most finance analyst jobs?
Minneapolis, Winona, and Chanhassen post the most finance analyst openings in Minnesota. Minneapolis drives the largest share through its headquarters clusters in banking, retail, and healthcare, while Saint Paul adds state government and insurance roles, and suburban hubs like Bloomington and Minnetonka host major corporate campuses that run their own FP&A teams.
Are there remote finance analyst jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of finance analyst openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and data-driven nature of the work. FP&A modeling, budgeting support, and reporting roles are the most likely to be offered remotely, while treasury and audit-adjacent positions more often require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a finance analyst in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a financial analyst associate or junior analyst role at one of the large Twin Cities employers that run structured new-graduate programs, including U.S. Bancorp's rotational finance program and Target Corporation's finance leadership development track. Candidates who have completed an internship in accounting or financial reporting gain an immediate edge. Lateral moves from accounts payable, accounts receivable, or financial operations roles at Minnesota-based companies also reliably lead to analyst titles within one to two years.
Where can I find and apply to finance analyst jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to finance analyst jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit.
