ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Underwriting Consultant will analyze Prescription Drug utilization data in order to provide market competitive pricing proposals to OptumRx clients and potential clients. Through the use of underwriting tools and actuarial forecasts, the Sr. Underwriting Consultant will create a pro forma P&L that is in alignment with corporate margin thresholds as well as client expectations. They will also build and maintain models to assist in the economic analysis of alternative pricing strategies. The Senior Underwriting Consultant is also responsible for effectively communicating these pricing strategies to both internal and external decision makers.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial modeling for P&L forecasting, client and OptumRx impact, and other ad-hoc analysis
- Complete and validate request for proposals for accuracy
- Work with our legal partners to ensure contract accuracy
- Communicate final pricing terms to other internal stakeholders
- Leader in the area of pricing strategy
- Communicate financials to Sr. Level decision makers as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare underwriting for any variety of products: PPO, HMO, self-funded, ASO/fully-insured, group or individual
- 3+ years of experience with Risk Management
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
