Finance Specialist Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance specialist in Arkansas?
Most Arkansas employers require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or economics as the baseline qualification. From there, candidates typically build experience in accounts payable, budgeting, or financial reporting roles before advancing to specialist positions. While no single state license is mandatory for all finance specialist roles, those pursuing public accounting work must obtain a CPA license through the Arkansas State Board of Public Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Examination.
How much do finance specialists make in Arkansas?
Finance specialists in Arkansas earn a median of about $60,600 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,000 for the lowest 10% to over $103,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire finance specialists in Arkansas?
Companies currently hiring finance specialists in Arkansas include Walmart, Sam's Club, and Ryder System, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arkansas's mix of large retail corporations, regional banks, healthcare systems, and state agencies creates steady demand for finance specialists across a range of industries and company sizes.
Which Arkansas cities have the most finance specialist jobs?
Bentonville, Little Rock, and Lowell account for the largest share of finance specialist openings in Arkansas. Little Rock dominates because it is home to major state government agencies, regional bank headquarters, and large healthcare employers, while Fayetteville benefits from the corporate presence of Walmart and its extensive supplier network, and Fort Smith draws finance roles from manufacturing and logistics operations concentrated in the Arkansas River Valley.
Are there remote finance specialist jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since finance specialist work is largely desk-based and analytical. About 33% of finance specialist openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader trends in corporate finance functions. Roles in financial reporting, budget analysis, and accounts payable tend to be the most frequently offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a finance specialist in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through accounts payable, accounts receivable, or junior budget analyst positions, which large Arkansas employers such as Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Arvest Bank, and state agencies regularly post as entry-level openings. Community colleges across Arkansas, including Pulaski Technical College and Northwest Arkansas Community College, offer accounting and finance certificate programs that strengthen a resume quickly. Candidates who pass the first two sections of the CPA exam or earn an Enrolled Agent credential gain a measurable advantage over other applicants at that experience level.
