Financial Data Analyst Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial data analyst in Pennsylvania?
A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, statistics, or a quantitative field is the standard entry point for financial data analyst roles in Pennsylvania. The role carries no state-issued license, but employers across Philadelphia's banking corridor and Pittsburgh's healthcare and technology sectors consistently prefer candidates who hold or are pursuing credentials such as the CFA or the Certified Analytics Professional. Building a portfolio demonstrating SQL, financial modeling, and visualization work strengthens applications considerably.
How much do financial data analysts make in Pennsylvania?
Financial data analysts in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $84,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,260 for the lowest 10% to over $155,320 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial data analysts in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring financial data analysts in Pennsylvania right now include BNY, ATI, and QVC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large insurance carriers, regional banks, integrated health systems, and utilities means financial data analyst demand is spread across several distinct industries rather than tied to a single sector.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most financial data analyst jobs?
Pittsburgh, Moon Township, and Exton are the Pennsylvania cities with the most financial data analyst openings. Philadelphia leads because of its dense cluster of financial services firms, insurance headquarters, and large health systems, while Pittsburgh draws demand from healthcare analytics, energy companies, and a growing technology sector, and smaller markets reflect anchor employers in manufacturing finance or regional banking.
Are there remote financial data analyst jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. Financial data analyst work is desk-based and output-driven, making it well-suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 75% of financial data analyst openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have extended flexibility for this role. Modeling, reporting, and visualization tasks are the functions most frequently performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a financial data analyst in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to junior or associate analyst roles at Pennsylvania's large financial institutions and health systems, which regularly hire recent graduates for structured rotational or entry-level analyst programs. UPMC, Lincoln Financial Group, and regional banks such as Citizens and Fulton Financial run associate programs that build analytical skills on the job. Moving laterally from adjacent roles in financial reporting, accounting, or data entry is a common route, and candidates who present a project portfolio using SQL and Tableau gain a clear edge over those without demonstrated technical output.
