Financial Project Manager Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial project manager in Maine?
Most financial project manager roles in Maine require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration combined with a project management credential such as the PMP or CAPM from the Project Management Institute. Maine does not issue a state-specific license for this role, so hiring decisions center on education, relevant work history, and certification. Gaining experience in financial analysis or accounting at a Maine employer before moving into project management is the most common path.
How much do financial project managers make in Maine?
Financial project managers in Maine earn a median of about $101,830 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,560 for the lowest 10% to over $147,640 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial project managers in Maine?
Maine financial project manager roles are posted by Northern Light Health, WEX, and MaineHealth and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maine's largest employers in healthcare, banking, insurance, and state government generate the most consistent demand for this role.
Which Maine cities have the most financial project manager jobs?

Portland drives the largest share because of its concentration of financial services firms, healthcare networks, and corporate headquarters, while Augusta and Bangor contribute through state government finance offices and regional anchor employers such as MaineHealth and Bangor Savings Bank.

Yes, and more than most fields. About 40% of financial project manager openings tied to Maine are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based, analytical nature of the work. Roles focused on financial reporting, budget modeling, and ERP project coordination tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions requiring in-person stakeholder management or on-site system implementation are more likely to be hybrid.

The most realistic entry point is starting as a financial analyst or project coordinator at a Maine healthcare system, bank, or state agency and building toward project management responsibilities from there. MaineHealth and Unum both hire entry-level finance and operations analysts who often transition into project management roles internally.
