Frontend Engineer Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a frontend engineer in New Jersey?
Frontend engineering in New Jersey has no state-issued license or registration requirement, so the path runs through education and demonstrable skills. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, though a strong portfolio of deployed projects carries real weight at many New Jersey technology and financial services firms. Bootcamp graduates who can show production-quality React or TypeScript work regularly land roles alongside four-year degree holders.
How much do frontend engineers make in New Jersey?
Frontend engineers in New Jersey earn a median of about $135,940 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $84,880 for the lowest 10% to over $207,200 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire frontend engineers in New Jersey?
Employers hiring frontend engineers in New Jersey right now include Acme Markets, Burlington Stores, and Kings, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's concentration of fintech firms along the Hudson waterfront and major pharmaceutical and healthcare technology companies in the Princeton corridor keeps demand for frontend talent especially consistent across the state.
Which New Jersey cities have the most frontend engineer jobs?
Jersey City, Warren, and Princeton lead New Jersey for frontend engineer openings. Jersey City's dense cluster of financial services and technology firms drives the bulk of listings, Newark's growing enterprise and logistics technology sector adds steady volume, and Princeton draws frontend roles from the pharmaceutical and research-technology companies headquartered in the Route 1 corridor.
Are there remote frontend engineer jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 11% of frontend engineer openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally the role fits distributed work. UI development, component library maintenance, and design-system work are the areas most consistently offered on fully remote terms by New Jersey employers.
How can I get hired as a frontend engineer in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a junior or associate frontend role at a mid-size New Jersey technology or fintech firm, where smaller engineering teams tend to mentor newer developers more directly than large corporations. Companies like Conduent and Cognizant run associate software engineer programs that absorb new graduates. Building a portfolio with two or three deployed React projects, contributing to open-source repositories, and targeting roles titled junior developer or UI associate opens the door from adjacent positions like QA analyst or technical support engineer.
Where can I find and apply to frontend engineer jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to frontend engineer jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly without creating a profile or going through a separate sign-up process.
