Full-stack Software Engineer Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a full-stack software engineer in Delaware?
Full-stack software engineering is not a licensed profession in Delaware, so there is no state-issued credential required to work in the role. Most employers in Delaware hire candidates who hold a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or who can demonstrate equivalent skills through a portfolio of shipped projects. Completing coursework at the University of Delaware or Delaware State University, or a structured coding bootcamp, gives candidates a competitive foundation for the state's fintech and healthcare technology markets.
How much do Full-stack software engineers make in Delaware?
Full-stack software engineers in Delaware earn a median of about $133,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $96,620 for the lowest 10% to over $174,390 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire full-stack software engineers in Delaware?
Delaware full-stack software engineer roles are posted by JPMorganChase, Ampcus, and Citi and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of major financial institutions and corporate headquarters in Wilmington means a large share of open roles are tied to banking, credit card technology, and enterprise software platforms.
Which Delaware cities have the most full-stack software engineer jobs?
Wilmington and New Castle account for the largest share of full-stack software engineer openings in Delaware. Wilmington dominates because it is home to the regional offices of major banks and financial services companies, Newark draws hiring through its proximity to the University of Delaware and a cluster of technology and biotech firms, and Dover generates openings through state government technology modernization projects and mid-size employers.
Are there remote full-stack software engineer jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 14% of full-stack software engineer openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how naturally the work lends itself to distributed teams. Front-end development and API integration work tend to be the most commonly offered in fully remote arrangements, while roles involving on-site infrastructure or close coordination with hardware or compliance teams are more likely to require some in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a full-stack software engineer in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to associate or junior software engineer roles at Delaware's large financial institutions, which run structured new-graduate programs and rotational development tracks. JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America both hire entry-level engineers from the University of Delaware's computer science program and comparable backgrounds. Building a portfolio that demonstrates a deployed full-stack project, even a personal one, significantly strengthens applications. Adjacent roles such as QA engineer, front-end developer, or IT support analyst at Delaware employers often serve as lateral entry points into full-stack teams.
Where can I find and apply to full-stack software engineer jobs in Delaware?
