Full-stack Software Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a full-stack software engineer in Texas?
Texas requires no state-issued license to work as a full-stack software engineer, so the path runs through education and demonstrable skills. Most Texas employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, though accredited coding bootcamps are accepted at many companies. Building a portfolio of deployed applications that show front-end and back-end work together is the most direct way to meet hiring requirements at Texas-based technology and enterprise employers.
How much do Full-stack software engineers make in Texas?
Full-stack software engineers in Texas earn a median of about $132,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,600 for the lowest 10% to over $183,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire full-stack software engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring full-stack software engineers in Texas right now include Apple, Goldman Sachs, and Citi, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's mix of technology headquarters, large financial institutions, and healthcare systems means openings appear across a wide range of industries beyond pure software companies.
Which Texas cities have the most full-stack software engineer jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Irving have the most full-stack software engineer openings in Texas. Austin's concentration of technology headquarters and high-growth startups drives the largest share of listings, while Dallas draws heavily from fintech, telecommunications, and enterprise software firms, and Houston's energy and healthcare sectors generate consistent demand for engineers who can build internal tools and customer-facing platforms.
Are there remote full-stack software engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 20% of full-stack software engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally the work translates to distributed teams. Front-end and API development tasks are the most commonly approved for fully remote arrangements, while roles involving on-site infrastructure or client-facing deployments tend to require at least partial in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a full-stack software engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate or junior developer role targeted at candidates with a strong portfolio rather than years of experience. Large Texas employers such as Dell Technologies, Accenture, and major Dallas-area financial firms run new-graduate programs that accept applicants from both four-year universities and recognized bootcamps. Building two or three deployed, end-to-end projects on GitHub and earning a cloud associate certification from AWS or Microsoft gives candidates from adjacent roles like QA tester or technical support a concrete edge in Texas interviews.
Where can I find and apply to full-stack software engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to full-stack software engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and location, and apply directly.
