Functional Analyst Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a functional analyst in Texas?
Most functional analyst roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in information systems, business, or a related field, followed by experience supporting enterprise software implementations. There is no state-issued license specific to the role in Texas. Employers strongly favor candidates who have earned vendor-recognized credentials such as SAP certification or Oracle Fusion training, and those who can demonstrate hands-on ERP or systems configuration experience tend to advance most quickly through the Texas hiring process.
How much do functional analysts make in Texas?
Functional analysts in Texas earn a median of about $107,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $72,530 for the lowest 10% to over $168,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire functional analysts in Texas?
Employers hiring functional analysts in Texas right now include Lennox International, Lennox, and Avanade, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large healthcare networks, and defense contractors creates steady, year-round demand for the role across multiple industries.
Which Texas cities have the most functional analyst jobs?
Houston, Richardson, and Dallas have the most functional analyst openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth leads because of its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, consulting firms, and financial services companies, while Houston's energy sector and medical center drive demand there, and Austin's fast-growing technology industry accounts for the strong hiring volume in the capital region.
Are there remote functional analyst jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 41% of functional analyst openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves documentation, system configuration, and virtual stakeholder meetings rather than on-site presence. Requirements gathering and UAT coordination are the tasks most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a functional analyst in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a business analyst or systems analyst associate role, which large Texas employers such as USAA, Accenture's Texas offices, and major health systems like CommonSpirit Health use as structured entry points. Lateral moves from roles like project coordinator, business operations specialist, or QA tester are common stepping stones. Completing a vendor certification in SAP or Salesforce, or building a portfolio of documented process-improvement projects, gives candidates a clear edge over those with only a degree.
Where can I find and apply to functional analyst jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to functional analyst jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Texas employers. Search the roles available, find the ones that fit your background and location preferences, and apply directly to the positions that match.
