General Manager Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a general manager in Rhode Island?
Most Rhode Island employers require a bachelor's degree in business, management, or a closely related field, though candidates with substantial hands-on experience in operations or retail are regularly considered. Rhode Island does not issue a state license specific to the general manager title, so hiring decisions rest on education, demonstrated P&L responsibility, and leadership history. Candidates who complete management training programs at Rhode Island-based companies in hospitality, healthcare, or manufacturing build the fastest paths to the role.
How much do general managers make in Rhode Island?
General managers in Rhode Island earn a median of about $117,380 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,990 for the lowest 10% to over $243,520 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire general managers in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island general manager roles are posted by Taco Bell, Seasons Corner Market, and Domino's and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's mix of regional hospital networks, hospitality groups, and mid-size manufacturers creates consistent general manager demand throughout the year.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most general manager jobs?
Providence, Warwick, and Johnston account for the most general manager openings in Rhode Island. Providence drives the highest volume as the state's commercial and healthcare center, while Warwick benefits from T.F. Green Airport traffic, concentrated retail corridors, and a strong hospitality sector, and Cranston draws openings from its manufacturing and distribution base along the Route 10 corridor.
Are there remote general manager jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of general manager openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fact that most general manager roles require physical presence to oversee staff, facilities, and daily operations. The segment most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements covers regional or area manager positions where oversight is strategic rather than floor-level.
How can I get hired as a general manager in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from an assistant manager or department supervisor role within the same Rhode Island employer. Large Rhode Island hospitality operators and retail chains regularly promote from shift-lead and assistant-manager positions into general manager roles. Completing a business degree at a Rhode Island institution, earning a ServSafe certification if pursuing hospitality, or finishing a management trainee program at a Lifespan-affiliated facility or regional retail group strengthens a candidacy considerably without requiring prior GM experience.
Where can I find and apply to general manager jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to general manager jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current Rhode Island openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
