Global Project Manager Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a global project manager in Texas?
The most direct path is earning a Project Management Professional certification through the Project Management Institute, which is the credential Texas employers most consistently require. Texas does not have a state-issued license specific to project managers, so the PMP functions as the industry standard. Most roles require a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field, and experience managing multi-site or international projects is often expected before senior-level hiring.
How much do global project managers make in Texas?
Global project managers in Texas earn a median of about $98,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,460 for the lowest 10% to over $162,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire global project managers in Texas?
Employers hiring global project managers in Texas right now include Amazon, Fluor, and Burns & McDonnell, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Texas's concentration of energy majors, defense contractors, and large technology firms means consistent openings across Houston, Dallas, and the broader metro corridors.
Which Texas cities have the most global project manager jobs?
Dallas, Texas, and Austin have the most global project manager openings in Texas. Houston's dominance reflects the energy and petrochemical industry's constant need for cross-border project oversight, while Dallas draws from a deep pool of corporate headquarters and technology employers, and Austin's expanding enterprise tech sector has added steady demand for project leadership at all levels.
Are there remote global project manager jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since global project management is largely desk-based work involving coordination, documentation, and stakeholder communication that translates well to distributed settings. About 75% of global project manager openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting genuine employer flexibility in this role. Coordination-heavy and program oversight functions are the most likely to be offered remotely.
How can I get hired as a global project manager in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a project coordinator or project analyst role, which large Texas employers in energy and defense routinely use as a feeder position. Companies like Fluor, Jacobs Engineering, and L3Harris hire coordinators with a bachelor's degree and then develop them internally. Earning a Certified Associate in Project Management designation from the Project Management Institute gives a credential edge before the full PMP becomes achievable, and volunteer or internship experience managing any cross-functional initiative strengthens an early application.
Where can I find and apply to global project manager jobs in Texas?
