About the Role
We're adding a full-time Graphic Designer to our creative team to support new design work, asset creation, and day-to-day design needs across both our direct mail and digital service lines. You'll work closely with the Creative Director, who sets creative direction and oversees quality, and collaborate with both the mail and digital account teams to bring campaigns to life.
This is a hands-on execution role for someone who is fast, versatile, and takes pride in clean, production-ready work. You'll be doing a mix of campaign design, digital asset creation, and supporting design functions across the team.
What You'll Do
- Produce new direct mail designs — postcards, self-mailers, letter packages, and other formats — from Creative Director briefs
- Create digital assets including social graphics, email headers, landing page elements, and web graphics
- Support ad hoc design requests from the digital and mail account teams
- Assist the Creative Director with client presentation materials and design revisions
- Prepare and deliver print-ready files to production specifications: correct bleed, resolution, color profiles, and file format
- Maintain organized asset libraries and design files across all client accounts
- Implement feedback efficiently and communicate proactively when you have questions or hit a blocker
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of graphic design experience; agency, studio, or in-house marketing environment preferred
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator; Photoshop experience a plus
- Ability to work across both print and digital formats — versatility matters more than specialization at this stage
- Strong attention to detail; you catch your own errors before anyone else does
- Comfortable working from a brief with clear creative direction and delivering with minimal back-and-forth
- Highly organized — you maintain clean file structures, use consistent naming conventions, and keep asset libraries in order without being asked
- Reliable with deadlines — files are delivered on time, production-ready, and correct the first time
Nice to Have
- Direct mail design experience — postcards, self-mailers, or letter packages
- Familiarity with USPS mail piece specifications and print production requirements
- Experience designing for the healthcare or medical vertical
- Basic social media design experience

Graphic Designer Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a graphic designer in Michigan?
Graphic design is not state-licensed in Michigan, so there is no required exam or registration board. Most Michigan employers expect a bachelor's degree in graphic design or visual communication from a program at institutions such as the College for Creative Studies, Kendall College of Art and Design, or a Michigan public university. A strong portfolio of finished work carries more weight in hiring decisions than any single credential.
How much do graphic designers make in Michigan?
Graphic designers in Michigan earn a median of about $57,350 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,770 for the lowest 10% to over $86,320 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire graphic designers in Michigan?
Employers hiring graphic designers in Michigan right now include Morley, MMD Signs, and RealTruck, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's dense concentration of automotive brands, large healthcare systems, and consumer goods manufacturers means in-house creative teams are common across many industries beyond traditional agencies.
Which Michigan cities have the most graphic designer jobs?
Grand Rapids, Novi, and Baroda have the most graphic designer openings in Michigan. Detroit and its suburbs anchor most of the volume because of the automotive industry's large in-house marketing and product design teams, while Grand Rapids supports steady demand through its concentration of furniture manufacturers, healthcare organizations, and mid-sized consumer brands.
Are there remote graphic designer jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of graphic designer openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally desk-based this work is. Brand identity, digital marketing, and UX-focused roles are the most likely to be fully remote, while print production and packaging roles tied to physical manufacturing tend to require some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a graphic designer in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or junior designer role at a Michigan agency or in-house creative department. Large Michigan employers such as auto brands and regional healthcare systems regularly bring on junior creatives and recent graduates from programs at the College for Creative Studies or Kendall College of Art and Design. A polished portfolio of student or freelance work is the single strongest asset, and applying for coordinator or production artist roles provides a direct lateral entry point.
Where can I find and apply to graphic designer jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to graphic designer jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to each one.
