OpenAI’s Go To Market team helps organizations understand, adopt, and deploy highly capable AI systems safely and effectively. We partner across Sales, Solutions, Product, Engineering, Research, Support, Marketing, and Partnerships to help customers turn frontier AI into durable business impact.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Account Director focused on Hedge Funds, you will own executive and technical relationships with leading buy-side investment firms, including some of the most sophisticated multi-manager, systematic, and data-intensive investment platforms in the world.
This is a highly technical enterprise sales role. You will work with CIOs, CTOs, Heads of AI, data leaders, platform engineering teams, portfolio managers, researchers, and compliance stakeholders to help firms deploy OpenAI across research, data analysis, coding, knowledge retrieval, model evaluation, internal AI platforms, and production workflows.
The ideal candidate can move fluidly between board-level value, front-office investment workflows, and deeply technical conversations about APIs, model routing, evals, retrieval, data security, observability, and responsible deployment in regulated environments.
This role will be based in New York City or San Francisco. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU’LL:
- Manage a focused portfolio of hedge fund and alternative asset management accounts, developing long-term strategic account plans.
- Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles across executive, investment, technology, data, AI, research, legal, security, and compliance teams.
- Build trusted relationships with highly technical buyers and internal platform teams who evaluate, integrate, and govern AI across the firm.
- Partner with Solutions, Product, Engineering, and Research to design pilots and scaled deployments with measurable business impact.
- Help customers identify high-value AI use cases across investment research, data analysis, document intelligence, coding, market monitoring, workflow automation, and internal AI platform development.
- Navigate regulated, security-sensitive environments with strong judgment around privacy, compliance, information barriers, and responsible AI deployment.
- Own revenue, consumption, pipeline, and forecast performance for your book of business.
- Track market structure, technology trends, and AI adoption patterns across hedge funds, multi-manager platforms, systematic investors, and adjacent buy-side firms.
- Partner cross-functionally with marketing, partnerships, product, and communications to build OpenAI’s hedge fund go-to-market motion.
YOU MIGHT THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU:
- Have 14+ years of experience selling complex enterprise software, platform, API, cloud, data, AI, or infrastructure products.
- Have 4+ years selling into financial services, ideally hedge funds, asset managers, capital markets, or other technically sophisticated buy-side institutions.
- Have a strong track record exceeding annual revenue targets of $2M+ in complex enterprise environments.
- Are credible with both C-suite executives and deeply technical stakeholders, including engineering, data, AI/ML, research, and platform teams.
- Understand how hedge funds and investment firms use data, research, analytics, software, and internal platforms to create differentiated investment processes.
- Can translate technical AI capabilities into practical business value for investment, research, engineering, and operational teams.
- Have experience with API-first products, developer platforms, data infrastructure, AI/ML platforms, or similarly technical enterprise solutions.
- Are comfortable navigating ambiguity, competitive accounts, long sales cycles, security reviews, and fast-moving customer priorities.
- Are customer-centric, intellectually curious, and energized by working with some of the most technically demanding customers in financial services.
- Are a builder who can help create a repeatable sales motion in a high-potential vertical that is still taking shape.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Account Director
Frame your credentials for EB-2 eligibility
Account Director positions often require a master's degree or a bachelor's plus progressive management experience. Documenting that progression clearly, with titles, team sizes, and revenue responsibility, strengthens an EB-2 advanced-degree claim before your employer files anything.
Target agencies with PERM filing history
Large integrated agencies and holding company networks have in-house immigration counsel and established PERM workflows. Searching for employers by their DOL labor certification history filters out companies that have never sponsored a permanent resident, saving you months of negotiation.
Search Account Director roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Account Director openings by employers with active green card sponsorship history. That history signals the hiring team already understands PERM timelines and won't withdraw an offer when the process stretches past twelve months.
Understand how PERM job duties get locked in
The DOL requires the PERM job description to match your actual day-to-day duties at the time of filing. Get the offer letter and internal job description aligned before the PERM is submitted, because any material change after filing can require starting over.
Negotiate a start date that protects your status
If you're currently on H-1B and accept an Account Director offer, confirm your new employer will file an H-1B transfer before your current authorization expires. The PERM process typically takes one to two years, so maintaining valid nonimmigrant status throughout is essential.
Verify the prevailing wage before accepting an offer
PERM requires your employer to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your specific Account Director role in that metro area. Cross-check the OFLC Wage Search before finalizing compensation, since an offer below the prevailing wage level will fail at the DOL certification stage.

Find Account Director JobsAccount Director Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Account Director roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Account Director positions typically qualify under EB-2 when the employer's minimum requirement is a master's degree or equivalent, or under EB-3 when a bachelor's degree is the stated requirement. The classification depends on the specific job requirements the employer documents in the PERM labor certification, not on your personal credentials alone.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for an Account Director?
Green card sponsorship through PERM and an I-140 petition leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary work authorization period. There's no annual lottery, and EB-3 professional category petitions aren't subject to the H-1B cap constraints. The tradeoff is timeline: the full process from PERM filing to an approved green card typically runs two to four years for most nationalities.
What does the PERM process look like from the employer's side?
Your employer must conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment campaign to demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available for the Account Director role. This includes job postings, internal notices, and documentation of all applicants reviewed. USCIS then adjudicates the I-140 immigrant petition after DOL certifies the PERM application, which currently takes several months under standard processing.
Where can I find Account Director jobs with green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Account Director openings filtered by employers with documented green card sponsorship history. That filter is important because most general job boards don't surface PERM filing data, so you end up applying to companies that have never navigated the process and may not be willing to start.
Can I switch Account Director jobs while my green card is in process?
Changing employers generally requires your new employer to restart the PERM process from the beginning, since the labor certification is tied to the specific employer and role. However, if your I-140 has been approved for more than 180 days, portability rules under AC21 may allow you to transfer the priority date to a new petition in the same or a similar occupational category.
