Frame your credentials around specialty occupation
PERM requires your role to require a specific bachelor's degree field, not just any degree. Document how your marketing specialization, analytics certifications, or platform expertise ties directly to the job duties your employer defines in the prevailing wage request.
Use OFLC Wage Search before accepting offers
Your employer must pay the DOL-certified prevailing wage for your specific SOC code and location. Pull the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating offers so you know whether a proposed salary clears the Level I through Level IV threshold for your metro area.
Target employers with dedicated immigration HR infrastructure
PERM sponsorship requires coordinated legal, HR, and payroll involvement over 18-plus months. Digital marketing teams at mid-size to large agencies, SaaS companies, and e-commerce brands are more likely to have the internal processes already in place to carry that through.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate lets you filter Digital Marketing Expert roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history, so you're applying to companies already familiar with PERM timelines rather than pitching the process cold to an unprepared recruiter.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility with your employer early
If your role requires only a bachelor's degree, EB-3 is the standard path. EB-2 applies when the position genuinely requires an advanced degree or your credentials support a National Interest Waiver. Confirm which category your employer intends to file under before PERM recruitment begins.
Track your priority date against the Visa Bulletin
Once USCIS approves your I-140, your priority date determines when you can file for adjustment of status. For EB-3 applicants from high-demand countries, backlogs can extend the wait by years, so monitor the monthly Visa Bulletin and plan your employment continuity accordingly.
Green Card Digital Marketing Expert: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Digital Marketing Expert roles typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Digital Marketing Expert positions qualify under EB-3 because they require a bachelor's degree rather than a master's or higher. EB-2 is available if the job genuinely requires an advanced degree or if you qualify for a National Interest Waiver through demonstrated national impact. Your employer's attorney determines the category based on the actual job requirements documented in the PERM application.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary status requiring renewal every three years, subject to lottery selection and annual caps. Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency with no renewal requirement and no lottery. There is no annual cap at the EB-3 preference level for most countries, though per-country backlogs affect how long you wait after your I-140 is approved.
What does the PERM process actually require a digital marketing employer to do?
The employer must conduct DOL-supervised recruitment, typically including job postings, newspaper ads, and internal notices, to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. They must document the prevailing wage determination using OFLC wage data for your specific SOC code and location. The entire recruitment period must be completed before the PERM application is submitted.
Where can I find Digital Marketing Expert jobs with green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Digital Marketing Expert roles specifically filtered by employers with green card sponsorship history, saving you from applying to companies unfamiliar with PERM or unwilling to commit to a multi-year sponsorship process. Filtering by sponsorship history at the start of your job search significantly narrows your list to employers who have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor.
Can my employer start PERM sponsorship while I'm on an H-1B or OPT?
Yes, and starting early is strategically useful because PERM approval does not trigger a status change. Your employer can initiate the PERM recruitment process, obtain a prevailing wage determination, and file the I-140 petition while you remain on your current authorized status. If you're on H-1B, an approved I-140 also enables extended H-1B renewals beyond the six-year cap under AC21 portability rules.
