Engineering Supervisor Green Card Jobs
Engineering Supervisor roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification, which requires your employer to test the U.S. labor market before filing an I-140 petition on your behalf. Manufacturing, construction, and infrastructure employers regularly sponsor this title, making it a strong candidate for permanent residency.

Document your supervisory scope before applying
PERM requires the employer to define the role's minimum requirements at filing. Gather evidence of the number of direct reports you've managed, budget authority, and cross-functional project oversight so your experience clearly maps to the posted job duties.
Target employers with active PERM filing histories
Use the OFLC Wage Search to identify companies that have certified PERM applications for Engineering Supervisor titles in your target region. Employers who have filed before understand the process and are far less likely to abandon sponsorship mid-application.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Engineering Supervisor openings by employers who have demonstrated green card sponsorship history, saving you from chasing roles at companies that have never navigated PERM. Run your search by location and industry to find the strongest matches.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility with your employer early
If you hold a bachelor's degree in engineering, you'll typically qualify under EB-3. A master's or a bachelor's with progressive experience may support EB-2. The category affects your priority date and wait time, so align on this before the I-140 is filed.
Understand how PERM recruitment timing affects your start date
DOL requires employers to complete a specific recruitment campaign before submitting a PERM application. This process takes a minimum of 60 days, so factor that window into any offer negotiation, especially if you're transitioning off an H-1B or OPT status.
Verify your degree equivalency meets PERM minimum requirements
USCIS scrutinizes foreign degree equivalency closely for supervisory engineering roles. A three-year engineering degree from outside the U.S. may need a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization to be accepted as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree during adjudication.

Find Engineering Supervisor JobsEngineering Supervisor Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Engineering Supervisor role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Both categories are possible. EB-3 applies when the role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and at least two years of supervisory experience. EB-2 applies if the position requires an advanced degree or if you have a bachelor's degree plus substantial progressive experience that an employer can document as equivalent to a master's-level qualification.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for Engineering Supervisor roles?
H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status capped at 85,000 per year and subject to the annual lottery. EB-3 green card sponsorship has no lottery and leads to permanent residency. The trade-off is timeline: PERM labor certification plus I-140 plus adjustment of status typically takes two to four years for most nationalities, compared to a few months for an initial H-1B approval.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for an Engineering Supervisor position?
Your employer must post the role through DOL-prescribed recruitment channels, including newspaper ads, a 30-day job order with the State Workforce Agency, and internal postings, over a minimum 60-day window. If no qualified U.S. workers apply, the employer files the PERM application with DOL. Standard processing currently runs six to eighteen months before the I-140 can be submitted.
How do I find employers who will sponsor a green card for Engineering Supervisor roles?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Engineering Supervisor openings at employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you're not spending time on applications at companies that have no PERM experience. You can filter by industry, region, and visa category to focus your search on realistic opportunities.
Can I change employers after my I-140 is approved but before I receive my green card?
Yes, under AC21 portability, you can change to a same or similar occupational classification after your I-140 has been approved and your adjustment of status application has been pending for 180 days or more. Engineering Supervisor roles are classified under SOC codes that USCIS generally treats as portable, but the new role must be in the same or similar occupational category.
