Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Head Of Marketing
Document your specialized marketing credentials early
Gather diplomas, transcripts, and evidence of advanced marketing credentials before applying. PERM requires your qualifications to match the job's minimum requirements exactly, so gaps between your degree field and the posted role can trigger a denial.
Target employers with dedicated immigration budgets
Marketing leadership roles rarely trigger automatic sponsorship conversations. Focus outreach on mid-to-large companies that already have in-house HR or legal teams familiar with PERM, since they're equipped to absorb the multi-month process without stalling your start date.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your offer
PERM locks your employer into paying at least the prevailing wage for your job title and location. Run your specific Head of Marketing SOC code through OFLC Wage Search before negotiating, so you know whether the offer meets the DOL wage floor that PERM requires.
Search green card sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Head of Marketing roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history. This cuts out companies unlikely to file PERM and puts you directly in front of roles where EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship is already on the table.
Clarify whether EB-2 or EB-3 applies to your offer
If the role requires only a bachelor's degree, it typically files under EB-3. If your employer can document that a master's degree or equivalent is the normal minimum in the industry, EB-2 may apply and can reduce your priority date wait depending on your country of birth.
Negotiate PERM filing timing before signing your offer
Ask your employer to commit to a PERM filing start date in your offer letter. Labor certification can take six months or longer, and delays at the recruiting or audit stage push your I-140 petition back further, extending your overall green card timeline significantly.
Green Card Head Of Marketing: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Head of Marketing role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Head of Marketing roles can qualify under either category depending on how the employer defines the position. EB-3 applies when a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field is the stated minimum. EB-2 applies when the employer can document that a master's degree or equivalent advanced expertise is normally required for the role in their industry.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for a Head of Marketing position?
H-1B visa is a temporary status with an annual lottery cap, whereas PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no lottery risk at the EB-3 level. The PERM process takes longer upfront, often six to eighteen months from labor certification through I-140 approval, but it permanently ties your residency pathway to the job rather than requiring repeated visa renewals.
What is the PERM labor certification process for a Head of Marketing hire?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL certifying that no qualified U.S. workers were available for the role at the prevailing wage. DOL reviews the employer's recruitment steps, which must follow strict advertising requirements. Once certified, your employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. The entire sequence from PERM filing to I-140 approval typically runs nine to eighteen months before your priority date is even established.
How can I find Head of Marketing jobs where employers are already open to green card sponsorship?
Start your search on Migrate Mate, which surfaces Head of Marketing roles filtered by employers with documented green card sponsorship history. Targeting companies that have already run PERM filings for similar roles saves time compared to negotiating sponsorship from scratch with an employer unfamiliar with the process.
Can I change employers after my green card process has started?
Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is current, portability rules under AC21 allow you to move to a new employer in the same or similar occupational category without restarting the entire green card process. If you leave before I-140 approval, your employer can withdraw the petition and the PERM certification generally cannot be transferred to a new company.
