Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Sales Development Representative
Document your degree equivalency early
If your bachelor's degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation before applying. PERM requires the employer to confirm the role's educational requirements match your credentials, and delays here can stall your I-140 filing.
Target SDR roles at E-Verify enrolled employers
Employers enrolled in E-Verify have already built immigration compliance infrastructure, making them far more likely to have experience sponsoring PERM cases. Filter your search to these companies before reaching out about green card sponsorship.
Search sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Sales Development Representative roles at employers with active green card filing history. Searching by role and sponsorship track cuts out employers who've never navigated the PERM process.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 path with your offer
SDR roles typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled professionals, but if the employer requires an advanced degree or you have strong credentials, push for EB-2 classification in your offer negotiation. EB-2 generally has shorter priority date backlogs for many countries.
Verify the prevailing wage before accepting an offer
DOL requires your employer to pay the PERM-certified prevailing wage for your location and role. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the wage level for your job title before signing, so there are no surprises during labor certification.
Build a PERM-ready employment record now
PERM audits often scrutinize whether your prior experience matches the job description exactly. Keep detailed records of your SDR responsibilities, quota attainment, and tools used so your employer can document the role requirements accurately during recruitment.
Green Card Sales Development Representative: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Sales Development Representative roles typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most SDR positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers or professionals requiring a bachelor's degree. EB-2 is available if the employer specifies an advanced degree requirement or if you pursue a National Interest Waiver, which is rare for SDR roles. Your employer's PERM filing will define which category applies, so confirm the classification before accepting an offer.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for an SDR role?
Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency, not a temporary status. There's no annual lottery at the EB-3 level, and your employer's commitment is long-term. The trade-off is timeline: PERM labor certification alone takes six to twelve months before the I-140 is even filed, compared to an H-1B visa that can start within months of selection.
How can I find Sales Development Representative jobs where employers are willing to sponsor a green card?
Use Migrate Mate to search SDR roles filtered by employers with green card sponsorship history. Many employers won't advertise PERM willingness publicly, but their DOL filing records show whether they've sponsored workers before. Targeting employers with that track record significantly increases your chances of a productive conversation about sponsorship.
Can my employer start the PERM process while I'm on an H-1B or OPT?
Yes. Employers regularly begin PERM labor certification for workers already in the U.S. on H-1B, OPT, or other nonimmigrant status. Starting PERM early is strategically important because priority dates for some countries can involve multi-year waits. Filing sooner locks in an earlier priority date, even if you won't adjust status for years.
What does the PERM recruitment process mean for my job search as an SDR candidate?
PERM requires your employer to conduct a formal DOL-prescribed recruitment campaign proving no qualified U.S. workers were available for your exact role. As a candidate, this means the job description filed with DOL must match your actual duties and qualifications closely. Discrepancies between your resume and the PERM job description are a common audit trigger, so align your credentials to the posted role carefully.
