Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Service Coordinator
Verify your degree field matches the role
PERM requires your degree to align with the job's stated educational requirement. A bachelor's in social work or human services is typically acceptable, but a degree in an unrelated field can trigger a denial, even with years of relevant experience.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Healthcare systems, disability services agencies, and large nonprofits file PERM for Service Coordinators far more regularly than smaller organizations. Use DOL OFLC disclosure data to identify employers in your metro area who have filed for this exact occupation.
Distinguish EB-3 from H-1B before your job search
EB-3 green card sponsorship carries no annual cap lottery and leads to permanent residency. Unlike H-1B, your employer doesn't race a registration deadline, which makes mid-year hiring feasible and removes a common barrier for smaller sponsoring organizations.
Search green card roles using Migrate Mate
Filter by Service Coordinator roles where employers have active EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces PERM filing data by employer and occupation, so you can focus applications on organizations already set up to sponsor.
Confirm the prevailing wage tier with OFLC Wage Search
Before accepting an offer, use the OFLC Wage Search to check the prevailing wage for Service Coordinator in your county. Your offered salary must meet or exceed that figure or DOL will deny the PERM application at the wage attestation stage.
Ask about the recruitment period during the offer stage
PERM requires employers to complete a formal DOL recruitment process before filing. Ask your prospective employer whether they've started that process, because the recruitment window runs 30 to 180 days and directly affects when your I-140 petition can be submitted.

Find Service Coordinator JobsService Coordinator Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Service Coordinator role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Service Coordinator positions qualify under EB-3 as a skilled worker or professional, since the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field. EB-2 applies if the employer defines the position as requiring an advanced degree or if you have a master's degree and the job duties support that requirement. Your employer's attorney determines the correct category based on the job description they file with DOL.
How does green card sponsorship through PERM differ from H-1B for this role?
PERM-based EB-3 sponsorship leads directly to lawful permanent residency rather than a temporary work status that needs periodic renewal. There's no annual lottery, so your employer can begin the PERM process at any time of year. The trade-off is timeline: the full PERM-to-green-card process typically runs two to four years for most countries, whereas H-1B approval can happen within months. For nationals from India or China, EB-3 priority date backlogs can extend that timeline significantly.
How can I find Service Coordinator employers who sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search Service Coordinator roles filtered by employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 PERM filing history. That's more reliable than asking recruiters during early screening, since many hiring managers don't know their company's sponsorship history. Focusing your applications on organizations that have filed PERM for this occupation before reduces the risk of reaching the offer stage with an employer who has never run the process.
What documents should I prepare before a sponsor employer starts the PERM process?
You'll need official transcripts confirming your degree and field of study, a credential evaluation if your degree is from outside the United States, employment verification letters covering any experience the employer will use to support the job description, and a copy of any professional licenses required in your state for the role. Having these ready before the job offer shortens the lag between hiring and PERM filing.
Can my employer sponsor me for a green card if I'm currently on a different work visa status?
Yes. PERM and the subsequent I-140 petition can be filed regardless of your current nonimmigrant status, whether you're on OPT, H-1B, or another category. The adjustment of status step, which is the final stage to receive your green card while staying in the United States, requires you to maintain valid status until USCIS approves your case. If your current status expires before the green card is approved, consular processing abroad is an alternative path.
