Green Card Tech Lead Jobs
Tech Lead roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification, where your employer documents that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. Sponsorship covers the full I-140 petition and adjustment of status process, giving you a permanent path to U.S. residency tied to your technical leadership credentials.

Overview
As the Integration & Automation Tech Lead, you will define the strategy, architecture, and delivery for Instacart's enterprise integration and automation landscape across the Finance and Accounting ecosystem. This role blends strategic ownership with hands-on technical leadership — ensuring our platforms are scalable, secure, audit-ready, and intelligent enough to evolve with the business.
You will architect modern, platform-agnostic integrations across ERPs, banking and payment systems, procurement, CRM, and data platforms — leveraging iPaaS, APIs, webhooks, and AI to eliminate manual work and accelerate financial transformation. You'll modernize release and automation practices through CI/CD, and partner with stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, Engineering, and Product to ensure technology is a strategic enabler of insight, compliance, and growth.
The Finance Systems and Solutions (FINSS) team owns the end-to-end lifecycle, governance, and evolution of technology systems that enables Finance across Instacart. We align deeply with Finance leadership to ensure that systems serve not just as tools, but as strategic enablers of insight, control, and growth.
ABOUT THE JOB
Strategy, Roadmap & Architecture
- Define and evolve the integration and automation strategy and roadmap across Finance and Accounting systems, with a platform-agnostic, best-fit-for-purpose approach.
- Architect solutions for end-to-end integrations across ERPs (Oracle/NetSuite/Workday), CRM (Salesforce), procurement (Zip/Coupa), HRIS, banking/payment processors, and data platforms (Snowflake/Databricks/Redshift).
- Translate complex technical landscapes into clear priorities and milestones that resonate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Champion modern integration patterns — iPaaS, event-driven architectures, REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, and streaming — and select the right tool for each use case.
Solution Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Deliver robust, scalable integration solutions across modern iPaaS platforms (Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft, or equivalents) and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), as well as custom API and database integrations.
- Design and implement secure bank-to-ERP integrations with encryption (PGP, SFTP, tokenization) and payment processor integrations that meet financial controls and audit requirements.
- Establish CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated release frameworks across integration platforms to improve reliability, traceability, and deployment velocity.
- Embed AI and intelligent automation capabilities into integration workflows — leveraging LLMs, agents, and ML services to streamline reconciliation, anomaly detection, and exception handling.
- Mentor junior BSAs and integration analysts, raising technical standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Engineering, IT, and Product to align technology initiatives with business outcomes.
- Influence roadmap priorities through measurable outcomes (e.g., release velocity, integration stability, system uptime).
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance and Accounting leadership on integration and automation opportunities.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor Oracle feature releases and evaluate emerging technologies, including automation and AI, for financial system use cases.
- Promote organizational learning through enablement sessions, technical deep-dives, and knowledge-sharing forums.
Security & Compliance
- Partner with Security, IT, and Audit to ensure integrations adhere to least-privilege access, data encryption, SoX controls, and compliance requirements.
- Advocate for observability, logging, monitoring, and infrastructure practices that ensure integrations are resilient, traceable, and audit-ready.
This role is ideal for a hands-on integration architect who thrives outside the boundaries of any single vendor ecosystem — someone who is equally comfortable building on iPaaS, writing API integrations from scratch, working with data platforms, and applying AI to solve real business problems.
ABOUT YOU
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in integration development, enterprise architecture, and/or financial systems, with deep cross-platform expertise.
- Hands-on experience with at least one modern iPaaS — Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft, or equivalent — including production-grade orchestration, error handling, and monitoring.
- Strong working knowledge of complex API integrations (REST, SOAP, GraphQL), authentication patterns (OAuth, JWT, API keys, mTLS), webhooks, and event-driven architectures.
- Proven experience with modern ERPs (Oracle Cloud, NetSuite, Workday) and integrations to boundary systems such as Salesforce, Workday HCM, Zip/Coupa (procurement), and billing platforms.
- Hands-on experience integrating with banking systems (host-to-host, SWIFT, BAI2, ISO 20022) and payment processors, including encryption and secure file transfer protocols.
- Working knowledge with database and data platform integrations — Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or equivalent — including bulk data movement, CDC, and reverse ETL patterns.
- Hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and release automation in an integration context.
- Proven track record as a technical lead or architect for enterprise integration programs.
- Ability to identify risks, propose strategic initiatives, and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or BSAs, fostering technical growth across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience applying AI and LLMs to integration and automation use cases (e.g., agent-based workflows, intelligent document processing, anomaly detection).
- Experience with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and OCI administration (compartments, IAM, compute, databases).
- Experience modernizing legacy financial system architectures and migrating from point-to-point integrations to event-driven or iPaaS-based models.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, observability frameworks and compliance-driven architectures (SOX, SOC 2).
- Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment where requirements evolve rapidly.

Benchmark your credentials against EB-2 requirements
Tech Lead roles often qualify under EB-2 if your employer can document that the position requires an advanced degree or its equivalent. Pull your foreign transcripts and any graduate coursework now, before an employer files your PERM, to confirm how USCIS will evaluate your education level.
Filter your job search by PERM filing history
Not all tech employers sponsor permanent residency. Use Migrate Mate to search for Tech Lead roles at companies with verified PERM filing activity, so you're targeting employers who have already run the labor certification process rather than those doing it for the first time.
Verify your role meets specialty occupation standards
Check the O*NET occupation profile for Software and Web Development Managers and Systems Architects to confirm your job duties align with the technical leadership functions DOL expects. A mismatch between your actual duties and the PERM job description is one of the most common audit triggers.
Negotiate the PERM job description before signing
The PERM application locks in the minimum requirements for your role permanently. Before you accept an offer, confirm the job description specifies your actual degree field and experience level, not a broader requirement your employer drafted for a different candidate pool.
Ask employers about their I-140 concurrent filing policy
Some employers file the I-140 petition concurrently with PERM approval, which starts your priority date clock earlier. Others wait. For candidates from oversubscribed countries, the gap between these two approaches can affect how quickly you can change roles under AC21 portability.
Understand how EB-3 backlogs affect your career flexibility
If your priority date is current under EB-3, you can file I-485 adjustment of status and gain work authorization that isn't tied to a single employer. Confirm with USCIS monthly Visa Bulletin cutoff dates whether your country of birth and preference category allow concurrent filing.
Green Card Tech Lead: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Tech Lead role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Tech Lead positions typically qualify for both EB-2 and EB-3 depending on how the employer structures the PERM job description. EB-2 requires the role to mandate an advanced degree or its equivalent in a specific technical field. EB-3 applies when a bachelor's degree is the documented minimum. Your employer's attorney drafts the requirements, so the classification is determined before PERM is filed, not retroactively.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a Tech Lead?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa subject to an annual lottery cap and a six-year maximum stay. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries, and approval results in lawful permanent residency rather than a renewable nonimmigrant status. The process takes longer, often two to four years including PERM audit risk, but the outcome is permanent authorization not tied to a single employer after the I-485 is filed.
What does the PERM process actually require from a Tech Lead candidate?
You need to meet the minimum requirements documented in the PERM job description exactly as written. DOL requires your employer to conduct a supervised recruitment campaign proving no qualified U.S. worker applied. Your role in the process is limited to providing transcripts, employment verification letters, and a resume that matches the advertised requirements. Mismatches between your actual background and the PERM job description can trigger an audit.
How do I find Tech Lead jobs where the employer is already open to green card sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to filter Tech Lead roles by verified PERM and I-140 filing history. This narrows your list to employers who have completed the process before, which significantly reduces the risk of a sponsorship commitment falling through mid-process. Companies with prior PERM filings in technical leadership roles understand the timeline and cost involved, making them more reliable sponsors.
Can I change jobs after my employer files my PERM application?
Changing employers resets the PERM process entirely, since the labor certification is tied to the specific employer and job description. Once your I-140 is approved and your I-485 has been pending for at least 180 days, AC21 portability lets you move to a same or similar occupation without losing your priority date. For Tech Leads, a new role in a comparable technical leadership function typically qualifies, but the new employer must agree to continue the green card process.
