Green Card Travel Nurse RN Jobs
Travel Nurse RN roles qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. Hospitals and staffing agencies with established PERM programs can sponsor you for permanent residency, converting a contract assignment into a long-term U.S. career.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Travel Nurse RN
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
Foreign nursing credentials must be assessed by a DOL-approved evaluation service before PERM can proceed. Delays in credential recognition are one of the most common causes of green card timeline setbacks for internationally trained nurses.
Verify NCLEX eligibility in your target state
State nursing boards set their own NCLEX eligibility rules for internationally educated nurses. Confirm your nursing license is valid in the state where the sponsoring employer operates before accepting an offer tied to green card sponsorship.
Target direct-hire positions over agency-only contracts
Many travel nurse staffing agencies offer contract placements but do not sponsor green cards. Focus your search on hospitals and health systems that hire travel nurses directly or have formal EB-3 sponsorship programs with in-house immigration support.
Search green card sponsorship history using Migrate Mate
Filter by Travel Nurse RN roles on Migrate Mate to identify employers with active PERM and I-140 filing history. That data tells you which facilities have an established sponsorship pipeline rather than promising it for the first time.
Confirm your employer will cover PERM recruitment costs
DOL prohibits employers from passing PERM labor certification costs on to the sponsored worker. Ask your prospective employer in writing whether they absorb attorney and filing fees before you sign any offer letter tied to green card sponsorship.
Understand how EB-3 priority dates affect your timeline
Your country of birth determines your EB-3 priority date wait, not your country of citizenship. Check the USCIS Visa Bulletin to see whether your birth country faces a backlog, since this affects when your green card actually becomes available.
Green Card Travel Nurse RN: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Travel Nurse RN roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Travel Nurse RN positions qualify under EB-3, which covers skilled workers and professionals with a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. EB-2 sponsorship is available for nurses with advanced degrees or those who qualify under the National Interest Waiver, though the NIW path requires self-petitioning and is less common for bedside nursing roles.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for nurses?
The PERM process leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary work visa. Unlike H-1B visa, EB-3 sponsorship has no annual lottery, so your petition moves through a predictable queue based on your priority date. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification and I-140 approval can take one to three years before adjustment of status begins, depending on your birth country.
Which employers are most likely to sponsor Travel Nurses for a green card?
Large hospital systems, Veterans Affairs medical centers, and regional health networks with established immigration programs are the most consistent EB-3 sponsors for Travel Nurse RN roles. Staffing agencies sometimes offer sponsorship, but verify whether they sponsor the nurse directly or only facilitate placement at a facility that handles the PERM filing itself. Use Migrate Mate to identify facilities with documented green card filing history.
What documents do internationally trained nurses need before PERM can begin?
You'll need a credential evaluation from a DOL-recognized service, a valid state nursing license in the sponsoring employer's state, and proof that you've passed NCLEX. Your employer's immigration attorney will also require certified copies of your nursing degree and transcripts. Missing any of these documents is the most common reason PERM filings stall before the labor market test phase begins.
Can I switch Travel Nurse RN employers after my I-140 is approved?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules, you can change employers once your I-140 is approved and your adjustment of status application has been pending for 180 days or more, provided the new role is in the same or a substantially similar occupational classification. For Travel Nurse RN roles, moving to a comparable nursing position at a different facility generally satisfies the same-or-similar standard, but confirm with a licensed immigration attorney before making the switch.
