Verify your degree aligns with the role
USCIS requires your degree field to relate directly to Dynamics 365 development. A computer science or information systems degree maps cleanly. An unrelated degree can trigger an RFE, so gather transcripts and course descriptions before applying.
Search LCA filings for Dynamics employers
Use the OFLC Wage Search to find employers who have already filed Labor Condition Applications under software developer SOC codes. These companies have an established H-1B filing process, which lowers your risk of joining a first-time sponsor.
Target Microsoft partner network companies
Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation partners and system integrators consistently hire developers on H-1B visas. Consulting firms specializing in Microsoft stack deployments file LCAs regularly and are experienced navigating the petition process.
Find H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter Dynamics 365 Developer jobs by verified H-1B filing history on Migrate Mate. You'll see which employers have active LCA records for this role, so you're targeting companies already set up to sponsor rather than guessing from job postings.
Get a prevailing wage determination early
Run your target job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating an offer. Your employer's LCA must certify at least the prevailing wage Level II or III for the relevant SOC code, and knowing the floor strengthens your salary discussion.
Confirm your employer files before April 1
The H-1B cap registration window typically opens in March. If you're starting a new role that requires cap-subject H-1B status, your employer needs to submit the I-129 petition by April 1 for an October 1 start. Confirm your employer's timeline before signing an offer letter.

Find Dynamics 365 Developer JobsDynamics 365 Developer H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Dynamics 365 Developer role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. Dynamics 365 Developer positions fall under the software developers SOC classification, which USCIS consistently recognizes as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field. Your employer documents the degree requirement in the LCA and I-129 petition to support the specialty occupation determination.
Which employers are most likely to sponsor H-1B visas for Dynamics 365 Developers?
Microsoft Dynamics implementation partners, ERP consulting firms, and large enterprises running D365 Finance or Supply Chain modules are the most active sponsors. These organizations file LCAs repeatedly for this role type and have internal HR processes for H-1B petitions. You can identify verified sponsors by searching Migrate Mate's job board, which surfaces employers with documented LCA filing history for Dynamics developer roles.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer's Dynamics project ends?
If your employer terminates your employment, you have a 60-day grace period under USCIS rules to find a new H-1B sponsor, change status, or depart the U.S. During that window, you can use H-1B portability rules to start working for a new employer as soon as the new I-129 petition is filed, without waiting for approval, as long as the new role is in a specialty occupation.
Can a Dynamics 365 Developer role use cap-exempt H-1B sponsorship?
Only if the employer qualifies as cap-exempt, such as a university, nonprofit research organization, or government research entity. Most Dynamics 365 Developer positions are at cap-subject employers, meaning the role competes in the annual H-1B lottery. If you're already in H-1B status with a different employer, a transfer to a new cap-subject sponsor doesn't require a new lottery slot under portability rules.
How does the O*NET classification affect an H-1B petition for this role?
The O*NET profile for software developers is used by employers and attorneys to document the theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge required for the role. USCIS adjudicators reference job zone classifications and typical education requirements from O*NET when evaluating specialty occupation claims. A Dynamics 365 Developer petition is strengthened when the job description maps directly to the O*NET tasks and knowledge requirements for the software developers occupation.
