Align your degree to the role
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the Enterprise Account Director role. A business, marketing, or management degree maps cleanly. A mismatched field, like engineering, needs a written nexus argument in your petition.
Target employers with cap-exempt status
Universities, nonprofits affiliated with higher education, and qualifying research institutions are exempt from the 85,000-slot cap. Enterprise sales roles exist at these organizations, and you can start any time of year without waiting for the April lottery.
Check LCA filings before applying
DOL Labor Condition Application records show which employers have filed for this exact job title. Use Migrate Mate to filter by occupation code so you're targeting companies with verified H-1B filing history for Enterprise Account Director roles.
Negotiate a start date that clears cap-gap
If you're on OPT when you apply, your cap-gap protection extends work authorization through September 30 of the fiscal year USCIS approves. Structure your offer letter with an October 1 start date so authorization is continuous and the employer doesn't need premium processing.
Verify the prevailing wage before the offer stage
Your employer must certify the offered salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your job title and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search yourself before negotiations so you know the Level I through Level IV thresholds for your metro area.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment for STEM OPT crossover
If you're transitioning from a STEM OPT extension to H-1B, your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm enrollment before signing an offer. An employer that isn't enrolled can't legally employ you under STEM OPT, which voids the cap-gap bridge.
H-1B Visa Enterprise Account Director: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Enterprise Account Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the employer requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, typically business administration, marketing, or management, as a minimum qualification. The role can't accept any unrelated bachelor's degree as sufficient. USCIS scrutinizes enterprise sales titles more than engineering roles, so the job description must clearly tie the degree requirement to the core duties.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Enterprise Account Directors?
Enterprise software, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, financial technology, and professional services firms file the largest volume of H-1B petitions for this title. These employers run structured annual hiring cycles tied to the April cap lottery. You can browse companies with verified H-1B filing history for this role on Migrate Mate before starting your search.
How does the H-1B lottery timing affect hiring for this role?
USCIS accepts H-1B cap petitions only in early April for an October 1 start date. Employers must register you in the lottery in March, meaning your hiring process needs to conclude by February or early March. Missing this window means waiting a full year unless the employer qualifies for a cap-exempt filing or you hold another valid work authorization in the interim.
Can an Enterprise Account Director role support a green card through PERM?
Yes. Once you're on H-1B, your employer can sponsor you for permanent residence through the PERM labor certification process, typically under the EB-2 or EB-3 category. The employer must demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. Starting PERM early matters because it locks in your priority date and protects your place in the visa queue.
What happens to my H-1B if I change employers as an Enterprise Account Director?
H-1B portability under AC21 lets you transfer your status to a new employer once your I-140 has been approved and pending for at least 180 days, as long as the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. Without that threshold, your new employer must file a full H-1B transfer petition and receive a receipt notice before your last day with the previous employer.
