Verify your role meets specialty occupation
Enterprise Sales Director qualifies under H-1B only if the employer can document that a specific bachelor's degree is required, not preferred. Pull the O*NET profile for Sales Managers to build your case before the petition is filed.
Target employers with active LCA history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Enterprise Sales Director roles by employers who have filed LCAs for this title. Employers with a filing history are already structured to handle the DOL wage certification and USCIS petition process.
Negotiate your offer before the April registration window
H-1B registrations open in March for an October 1 start date. Have your signed offer letter and LCA prevailing wage confirmed before registration opens so your employer isn't scrambling to meet DOL certification timelines.
Confirm prevailing wage tier in your metro area
Enterprise Sales Director wages vary significantly by metro. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your target city using the correct SOC code before accepting an offer. A Level I or II wage determination can affect both your offer and the LCA filing.
Understand how commission affects your H-1B wage floor
USCIS requires that your guaranteed base salary meets the prevailing wage. Variable commission doesn't count toward that floor. Clarify with your employer that the base alone satisfies DOL requirements before the LCA is submitted.
Use your 60-day grace period strategically
If your current H-1B employment ends, you have a 60-day grace period to secure a new sponsoring employer and file a transfer petition. Prioritize companies that can file an H-1B transfer quickly rather than starting a new cap-subject petition.

Find Enterprise Sales Director JobsEnterprise Sales Director H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Enterprise Sales Director role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, if the employer can establish that the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, marketing, or a related discipline. The role can't be open to any degree. Employers in enterprise software, SaaS, and consulting regularly file H-1B petitions for this title because those degree requirements are well-documented in their job specifications.
How do I find employers who sponsor H-1B visas for Enterprise Sales Director roles?
Search Migrate Mate for Enterprise Sales Director positions filtered by employers with H-1B filing history. Companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for this job title have already navigated the DOL certification process and are structurally prepared to sponsor again. Focusing on these employers reduces the risk of an offer falling through due to a sponsor's unfamiliarity with the process.
How does commission-based pay affect my H-1B petition as an Enterprise Sales Director?
USCIS requires that your base salary alone meets the prevailing wage determined in the Labor Condition Application. Commission, bonuses, and equity don't count toward that floor. Many Enterprise Sales Director roles are structured with a low base and high variable pay, which can create a compliance problem if the base falls below the DOL wage level. Confirm the base meets prevailing wage before signing your offer.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer mid-year if I change Enterprise Sales Director roles?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can start working for a new sponsoring employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, provided your current H-1B was approved and you've maintained valid status. The new employer must file a new LCA and I-129 petition. You don't need to wait for approval before starting, which makes mid-year transitions legally manageable.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer does a layoff or I'm terminated?
You have a 60-day grace period from the date your employment ends to find a new sponsoring employer and have a transfer petition filed on your behalf. If no petition is filed within that window, your H-1B status lapses. Prioritize employers who can file quickly. USCIS allows premium processing for H-1B transfers, which can return a decision within days if your situation is time-sensitive.
