Verify your role meets specialty occupation
Full stack roles that blend product ownership with engineering can draw RFEs if the job description is vague. Make sure your offer letter specifies a directly related degree field and ties your responsibilities to that discipline before USCIS reviews the petition.
Check prevailing wages before negotiating salary
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Level I through Level IV wages for your job title and work location. Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage, so knowing the floor before you negotiate protects both parties from a deficient LCA.
Target employers with cap-exempt filing relationships
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government research organizations are cap-exempt H-1B employers. Full stack product roles exist at many of these institutions, and a cap-exempt filing bypasses the lottery entirely, giving you a guaranteed petition review.
Search Migrate Mate for verified H-1B sponsors
Filter by Full Stack Product Engineer roles on Migrate Mate to see employers with confirmed LCA filing history. This surfaces companies that have already navigated the DOL certification process for this job type, not just companies that say they sponsor.
Request premium processing early in the offer timeline
USCIS premium processing guarantees a 15-business-day adjudication window. For product engineering roles with a defined start date tied to a product launch or team headcount plan, requesting it upfront avoids delays that can push your start date past the cap-year deadline.
Prepare a degree equivalency memo if your credentials are non-U.S.
If your computer science or engineering degree is from outside the U.S., your employer's attorney will likely need a credential evaluation. Get a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services member report early so the evaluation is ready before the LCA is filed.
H-1B Visa Full Stack Product Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Full Stack Product Engineer role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the job description requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, software engineering, or information systems. Roles that blend product management with engineering sometimes receive USCIS requests for evidence if the description is generic, so your offer letter should explicitly tie the duties to a specific degree discipline.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas for Full Stack Product Engineers?
Search on Migrate Mate using the Full Stack Product Engineer job title filter. The platform surfaces employers with verified LCA filing history through DOL, so you can see which companies have already petitioned for this role type rather than relying on self-reported claims in job postings.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Full Stack Product Engineer role during the 60-day grace period?
Your new employer must file an H-1B transfer petition before your grace period ends. Because full stack roles often include a product scope beyond pure engineering, make sure the new petition's job description still meets specialty occupation requirements under USCIS standards. Filing under portability lets you start the new role once the receipt notice is issued, not after approval.
What O*NET classification applies to Full Stack Product Engineer positions?
Most Full Stack Product Engineer roles map to O*NET code 15-1252.00 (Software Developers) or 15-1299.08 (Web Developers and Digital Interface Designers), depending on how the role is structured. Your employer's legal team will use the corresponding Standard Occupational Classification code when filing the LCA with DOL, which determines the prevailing wage tier for your location.
Does working remotely affect my H-1B sponsorship as a Full Stack Product Engineer?
Yes. H-1B status is tied to the worksite location listed on the LCA. If you work remotely from a different city or state than what the LCA certifies, your employer must file an amended LCA covering the new location. For full stack roles where remote work is common, confirm that your LCA lists your actual work address before you start.
