Verify your role meets specialty occupation
Lead Management titles vary widely. Cross-check your job description against the O*NET profile for your specific SOC code to confirm the role requires a degree in a directly related field, not just any bachelor's degree.
Target cap-exempt employers first
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated entities are cap-exempt, meaning your H-1B petition bypasses the annual lottery entirely. Lead Management roles exist at these organizations, particularly in enrollment, donor relations, and research commercialization.
Search verified H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter Lead Management openings by employers with active H-1B LCA filing history. Migrate Mate pulls DOL Labor Condition Application data so you can see which companies have sponsored roles in your occupation code before you apply.
Request the LCA wage level before negotiating
Ask your recruiter which DOL wage level the employer intends to use on the LCA. Levels I and II can constrain your offer below market rate. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your SOC code and metro area to benchmark before any salary conversation.
Prepare a degree equivalency letter early
If your business or marketing degree is from a three-year international program, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before you reach the offer stage. USCIS scrutinizes equivalency claims for management roles more closely than technical positions.
Account for the full H-1B timeline when accepting offers
If you're subject to the cap lottery, your employment start date can't be earlier than October 1 of the fiscal year for which you're selected. Build that gap into your negotiation so your offer letter doesn't expire before your status begins.
H-1B Visa Lead Management: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Lead Management role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It depends on how the job description is written. USCIS requires that the specific position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. A Lead Management role tied to marketing analytics, CRM strategy, or business development typically qualifies. A general sales management role where any degree suffices is more vulnerable to an RFE challenging specialty occupation status.
Which employers most commonly sponsor H-1B visas for Lead Management positions?
Technology companies, enterprise software firms, and large B2B services organizations file the most LCAs for Lead Management and related CRM-focused roles. You can browse employers with verified H-1B filing history for this occupation on Migrate Mate, which surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data filtered by job category so you're not applying blindly.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Lead Management role is restructured or eliminated?
You have a 60-day grace period after involuntary termination to find a new employer, change status, or depart the U.S. Your new employer must file a new H-1B petition before you begin work. If the restructure changes your job duties substantially, your employer may need to file an amended petition with USCIS even if you're staying at the same company.
Can my employer sponsor my H-1B for a Lead Management role without going through the lottery?
Yes, if your employer qualifies as cap-exempt. Universities, affiliated nonprofit research organizations, and government research entities are not subject to the 65,000 annual cap. Some private employers also have cap-exempt arrangements through affiliation agreements. Otherwise, you're subject to the lottery and can only start on October 1 if selected.
What DOL wage level should a Lead Management H-1B petition use?
Most mid-level Lead Management roles are filed at Level II or Level III depending on the degree of independent judgment and supervisory responsibility involved. Level I filings for experienced Lead Management candidates draw USCIS scrutiny because the wage may not reflect the complexity of the role. Check the OFLC Wage Search for your SOC code and location to understand what each level means for your specific metro area.
