Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to the role. A business administration, supply chain, or industrial engineering degree strengthens your petition far more than a general management background when the employer is documenting specialty occupation status.
Search verified H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Regional Operations Director openings by employers with confirmed LCA filing histories. That filing record tells you the employer already understands the H-1B process for this specific occupation, which reduces delays during petition preparation.
Target employers with multi-state or multi-site structures
Companies managing distributed operations across multiple locations file H-1B petitions more consistently for director-level roles because the operational complexity justifies the specialty occupation argument. Logistics firms, retailers with regional hubs, and healthcare networks fit this profile.
Benchmark your offer against DOL prevailing wage levels
Before accepting an offer, run the offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search for your SOC code and work location. Your employer must certify the wage on the LCA, and a Level I or II wage on a director title can draw USCIS scrutiny during adjudication.
Clarify the LCA work-site scope before signing
If your role requires managing operations across multiple locations, confirm with the employer whether the LCA covers all work sites. DOL requires a certified LCA for each location where you'll work more than 30 workdays in a year, and missing sites can create compliance exposure.
Request premium processing if your start date is fixed
USCIS offers premium processing for H-1B petitions, guaranteeing a decision within 15 business days. For operations roles with hard launch deadlines tied to facility openings or contract start dates, this protects both you and the employer from scheduling disruptions.

Find Regional Operations Director JobsRegional Operations Director H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Regional Operations Director role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the employer documents that the position routinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business administration, operations management, supply chain, or industrial engineering. Generic management experience alone won't satisfy the requirement. The strength of the specialty occupation argument depends heavily on how the employer defines the role's minimum educational requirements in the LCA and petition.
Which employers consistently sponsor H-1B visas for Regional Operations Director positions?
Employers with geographically distributed operations, including large retailers, logistics and third-party fulfillment companies, healthcare networks, and multinational manufacturers, file H-1B petitions for this title most consistently. You can identify employers with active filing histories for this occupation by searching on Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified LCA data so you're targeting companies that have already sponsored this role.
How does managing multiple locations affect my H-1B petition as a Regional Operations Director?
If your role requires working at multiple sites, your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application covering each location where you'll spend more than 30 workdays per year. Employers sometimes overlook this requirement for director-level roles with regional travel components. Confirm the scope of the LCA work-site coverage before your petition is filed to avoid compliance gaps that could affect your status.
Can I change employers while on H-1B sponsorship in a Regional Operations Director role?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can start working for a new employer as soon as the new petition is filed with USCIS, without waiting for approval, as long as your previous H-1B was approved and you've maintained valid status. The new employer must file a new LCA and H-1B petition. For director-level roles, the specialty occupation documentation process typically takes four to eight weeks to prepare properly.
What prevailing wage level should I expect for an H-1B Regional Operations Director petition?
DOL assigns prevailing wages at four levels based on experience, supervision, and complexity. Regional Operations Director petitions typically fall at Level III or Level IV, reflecting the supervisory scope and multi-site accountability involved. You can verify the applicable wage for your location and SOC code using the OFLC Wage Search before your employer submits the LCA. A wage certified below your actual duties' complexity level can invite USCIS scrutiny.
