H-1B Visa Sales Account Executive Jobs
Sales Account Executive roles qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Employers in SaaS, enterprise software, and financial services file the most LCAs for this title. Your job search should target companies with active H-1B filing history, not just open headcount.

Document your degree's direct relevance
USCIS scrutinizes Sales Account Executive petitions because the role doesn't always require a specific degree. Gather transcripts and coursework records showing concentration in business, marketing, or a technical field that maps directly to your sales domain.
Filter employers by LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to identify companies that have already filed Labor Condition Applications for Sales Account Executive or similar titles. Past LCA filings signal an employer understands the H-1B process and has the infrastructure to sponsor again.
Target SaaS and enterprise software verticals
Tech-sector employers file H-1B LCAs for sales roles far more consistently than retail or consumer goods companies. Prioritize outreach to SaaS, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity firms, where complex products create genuine demand for degree-holding account executives.
Verify the prevailing wage before negotiating
Look up the wage level for Sales Account Executive in your target metro using the OFLC Wage Search before any offer conversation. Your LCA-certified wage must meet the DOL prevailing wage, so knowing the threshold prevents offers that can't legally support your petition.
Confirm specialty occupation framing in your offer letter
Ask your employer to describe the role using language that emphasizes analytical, technical, or consultative sales responsibilities requiring a specific degree. Offer letters that list duties as purely relationship-based or volume-driven weaken the specialty occupation argument during USCIS adjudication.
Time your application around the cap and lottery
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, with USCIS registration opening in March. If you're transitioning from OPT, confirm your EAD expiration against this timeline so your employer can plan the filing window without a gap in your authorization.
H-1B Visa Sales Account Executive: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sales Account Executive role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but it's not automatic. USCIS requires that the position normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not just any degree. Sales roles tied to complex technical products, enterprise software, or financial services are stronger candidates. General or transactional sales positions without a degree requirement often face Requests for Evidence challenging specialty occupation status.
Which employers are most likely to sponsor H-1B visas for sales roles?
SaaS companies, enterprise software vendors, financial technology firms, and consulting organizations file the most H-1B LCAs for account executive titles. These employers have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure for visa sponsorship and regularly hire internationally for quota-carrying sales positions. You can filter for employers with active H-1B filing history directly on Migrate Mate.
How does commission-based compensation affect my H-1B prevailing wage compliance?
DOL requires that your guaranteed base salary meets or exceeds the prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Variable commission income does not count toward the wage floor. If your offer is heavily commission-based with a low base, your employer's LCA may not pass prevailing wage certification, which would block the H-1B petition from being filed.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer if I change sales jobs?
Yes. Under AC21 portability, you can start working for a new employer as soon as they file an H-1B transfer petition, without waiting for approval, as long as your current H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days. The new employer must file a fresh LCA and I-129 petition, and the role must still qualify as a specialty occupation.
What happens to my H-1B status if I'm put on a performance improvement plan or let go?
Your H-1B status is tied to your employment. If your job ends, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, change to another visa status, or leave the country. During that window, your new employer can file an H-1B transfer, and you can begin work once they file. Acting quickly within the 60 days is critical to avoiding a status violation.
