Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst
Map your SOC code before applying
Senior Cybersecurity Analyst roles typically fall under SOC 15-1212. Confirm your target employer's LCA filings use that code via the OFLC Wage Search so your degree and experience align with what DOL expects for the petition.
Document clearance eligibility early
Many cybersecurity roles require or prefer a security clearance. U.S. government-sponsored clearances can't be held by non-citizens, so target private-sector or contractor roles where clearance sponsorship is possible for H-1B holders.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter your job search by employers with active H-1B LCA filings in cybersecurity occupations. Migrate Mate surfaces that DOL Labor Condition Application data so you're only pursuing companies with a real sponsorship track record.
Verify E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
STEM OPT and cap-gap extensions require E-Verify enrollment, but so does any employer hiring you on an H-1B. Confirm enrollment status directly with the recruiter before your offer stage, not after.
Get your prevailing wage tier confirmed in writing
DOL assigns Level I through Level IV wage tiers on the LCA. For a senior role, insist the LCA reflects Level III or IV. A mismatch between your title and wage tier is a common RFE trigger that delays your start date.
Time your petition around the lottery registration window
H-1B cap registrations open each March for an October 1 start. If you're interviewing in fall or winter, negotiate a conditional offer with a start date contingent on selection. USCIS premium processing can compress adjudication to 15 business days once selected.
H-1B Visa Senior Cybersecurity Analyst: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS considers cybersecurity analysis a specialty occupation because the work typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information security, or a closely related technical field. Your employer will need to demonstrate that the specific role requires that specialized degree, not just any bachelor's degree, when filing Form I-129.
How do I find employers actively sponsoring H-1B visas for cybersecurity roles?
The most reliable method is checking DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data, which shows which employers have filed LCAs for cybersecurity occupations and at what wage levels. Migrate Mate compiles that data so you can browse and apply to verified H-1B sponsoring employers for Senior Cybersecurity Analyst positions directly.
Can my employer sponsor an H-1B if the role requires a security clearance?
Private-sector and defense contractor roles can sponsor H-1B holders, but federal government-sponsored clearances (such as TS/SCI) require U.S. citizenship, which makes H-1B sponsorship incompatible with those specific positions. Focus on private-sector security roles or contractor positions where clearance sponsorship for non-citizens is explicitly permitted by the employer.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer is acquired or my role is restructured?
A corporate acquisition that qualifies as a successor-in-interest under USCIS rules may allow your H-1B to transfer without a new petition, but only if the terms of employment remain the same. A material change to your job duties, title, or work location requires an amended petition. You have a 60-day grace period if your employment ends to find a new sponsoring employer.
How does prevailing wage work for a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst on an H-1B?
DOL requires your employer to pay you the prevailing wage for your SOC code, job level, and work location, certified on the LCA before USCIS reviews the petition. For a senior role, that typically means a Level III or Level IV wage determination. You can look up the applicable wage using the OFLC Wage Search before evaluating any offer to confirm the employer's LCA matches your seniority.
