About The AI Guild
The AI Guild leads internal AI adoption at Juniper Square. We partner with teams across the company to identify high-impact opportunities, build the applications that solve them, and drive the adoption that turns AI capability into business outcomes.
About Your Role
We are hiring Forward Deployed AI Engineers to embed with business teams and lead the end-to-end delivery of internal applications, from discovery through production adoption. You will partner directly with stakeholders to scope the work, design the solution, build it, and see it through to active use. This is an AI-first engineering role. The applications you build will be powered by modern AI, and you will use agentic coding tools as your primary development environment. The role combines product management and full-stack engineering, and calls for someone who operates with high agency. Working from broad strategic priorities set by Juniper Square leadership, you will conduct discovery with stakeholders, define product requirements, sequence delivery, and make the trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality that get working software into users' hands quickly. Success is measured by adoption and impact. You will own the products you build through launch and beyond, iterating based on real user feedback and contributing the patterns you develop back to the broader AI Guild.
- Partner with business teams (Operations, Customer Success, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and others) to identify opportunities where AI can improve internal workflows and outcomes
- Conduct discovery with stakeholders and translate business needs into clear product requirements and acceptance criteria
- Carry each product through its full lifecycle, from prototyping and stakeholder validation through hardening, deployment, and rollout to production
- Use agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Augment as the primary development environment
- Operate independently on standalone internal applications, and partner with central Engineering teams when work intersects with core systems or production platforms
- Make engineering tradeoffs appropriate to an internal user base, balancing speed of delivery with reliability, security, and maintainability
- Own deployed tools through adoption, including post-launch support, iteration based on user feedback, and ongoing maintenance
- Produce documentation, conduct user training, and manage rollouts to drive adoption
- Contribute reusable components, patterns, and learnings back to AI teams
Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional experience shipping production software end to end, with hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications
- Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business needs into product requirements and deliver working software against them
- Full-stack engineering capability across data, services, and user interfaces
- Proficiency with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Augment
- Experience deploying and operating applications on a major cloud provider
- Working knowledge of application security practices for systems handling sensitive company data
- Strong product judgment, including the ability to define scope for an initial release, prioritize features, and determine completion criteria
- Excellent written communication skills across requirements, specifications, documentation, and stakeholder updates
- Proven ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders and communicate technical concepts clearly

Compensation for this position includes a base salary, equity, and a variety of benefits. The U.S. base salary range is $170,000 - $220,000 USD. Verify your role qualifies as specialty occupation
Pull the O*NET profile for Software Developers or Systems Engineers and document the degree requirements. USCIS scrutinizes Forward Deployed Engineer petitions when job duties blend consulting with engineering, so a strong specialty occupation argument starts before you apply.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter companies by verified DOL Labor Condition Application filings for engineering roles. Employers with consistent LCA activity have established H-1B workflows, which reduces petition errors and delays during your onboarding.
Request the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Run the OFLC Wage Search using SOC code 15-1252 or 15-1299 and the work location's metropolitan area before accepting an offer. Your employer's LCA must certify at least the Level I wage, and knowing the tiers helps you negotiate without accidentally pricing yourself into a filing problem.
Confirm the employer uses E-Verify before your start date
Forward Deployed Engineers often work on-site at client facilities. If those clients hold federal contracts, E-Verify enrollment may be contractually required. Confirm your employer's E-Verify status during offer negotiation, not after your I-9 is complete.
Prepare a detailed itinerary of client work locations
USCIS and DOL require separate LCA filings for each worksite where you spend more than a few days. Document all anticipated client sites by address before your petition is filed so your employer can cover every location and avoid compliance gaps.
File for premium processing if your start date is fixed
Forward Deployed Engineers typically start on structured client deployment schedules. Standard H-1B processing runs several months, so premium processing through USCIS guarantees a decision within 15 business days and protects your client commitment dates.
H-1B Visa Senior Forward Deployed Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline. The challenge is that Forward Deployed Engineer duties often blend client-facing work with deep technical implementation, so the employer's petition must clearly document the degree requirement and tie each core duty to that specific field of study.
How do I find employers actively sponsoring H-1B visas for this role?
Search Migrate Mate to browse Senior Forward Deployed Engineer openings filtered by employers with verified H-1B sponsorship history. Companies in enterprise data, AI infrastructure, and SaaS consistently file LCAs for this title, and focusing on those with active filing records reduces the risk of landing at an employer unfamiliar with the H-1B process.
What happens if my role requires working at multiple client sites?
DOL rules require your employer to file a separate Labor Condition Application for each worksite where you work more than 30 days per year or more than 10 consecutive days. Before your petition is filed, compile a complete list of anticipated client locations with addresses so your employer can include all sites and avoid compliance violations that could jeopardize your status.
Can I change employers mid-H-1B if I get a better offer?
Yes, through H-1B portability under AC21. Once your H-1B has been approved and you've been in valid status, you can start working for a new employer as soon as they file a new H-1B petition on your behalf, without waiting for approval. The new employer must file before your current authorized period ends and the new role must remain in a specialty occupation.
How does the H-1B cap lottery affect hiring timelines for this role?
Cap-subject H-1B petitions are subject to the annual lottery with an 85,000-slot limit, and registration opens each March for an October 1 start date. If you're currently on OPT or another status, your employer needs to plan around this cycle. Some Forward Deployed Engineer roles at universities or nonprofit research institutions may qualify for cap-exempt status, which bypasses the lottery entirely.
