Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Service Delivery Manager
Verify your degree satisfies specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to service delivery management. A general business degree may trigger an RFE. Degrees in IT management, computer science, or operations management carry the strongest alignment for this role.
Check LCA filings before targeting employers
Use OFLC Wage Search to confirm an employer has filed Labor Condition Applications for Service Delivery Manager or related SOC codes. Employers with a filing history are already familiar with the process and less likely to withdraw offers mid-petition.
Search verified H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter by Service Delivery Manager roles on Migrate Mate to surface employers with documented H-1B sponsorship history. This cuts the time you'd spend cold-applying to companies that list sponsorship as optional but rarely follow through.
Negotiate an offer before the March registration window
H-1B cap registrations open in March and close within days. Have your signed offer letter and employer details ready so your employer can register you before the deadline. Missing the window means waiting a full year for the next lottery.
Clarify whether your role is cap-exempt
If a university, nonprofit research organization, or government entity hires you as a Service Delivery Manager, they may file outside the 85,000-slot cap year-round. Confirm cap-exempt status with USCIS guidelines before assuming you need to clear the lottery.
Use O*NET to document specialty occupation evidence
Pull the O*NET occupation profile for General and Operations Managers or Computer and Information Systems Managers to identify the degree requirements listed for your role. Employers and attorneys use this data directly in I-129 petitions to defend specialty occupation classification.
H-1B Visa Service Delivery Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Service Delivery Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, if the position genuinely requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as IT management, business information systems, or computer science. Titles alone don't determine eligibility. USCIS evaluates whether the duties require theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge, so the job description must clearly reflect those requirements.
How do I find employers who actually sponsor H-1B visas for Service Delivery Manager roles?
Search Migrate Mate to browse Service Delivery Manager openings filtered by employers with verified H-1B sponsorship history. You can also cross-reference DOL's OFLC disclosure data by SOC code to confirm an employer has filed LCAs for this role type before applying.
Can my employer file H-1B for a Service Delivery Manager role if I'm currently on OPT?
Yes. If your OPT end date falls after October 1 and your employer registers you in the March lottery, cap-gap protection extends your work authorization continuously through October 1 if you're selected. Your employer submits the I-129 petition after lottery selection, not at registration.
What happens to my H-1B if I switch companies as a Service Delivery Manager?
H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, without waiting for approval. Your new employer must file before your current H-1B expires, and the new role must remain in a specialty occupation that matches your qualifications.
How does prevailing wage affect H-1B sponsorship for Service Delivery Manager positions?
DOL requires your employer to pay at least the prevailing wage for your role, location, and experience level before the LCA is certified. You can look up the applicable wage tier using OFLC Wage Search. Underpaying, even slightly, can result in LCA denial and block the entire H-1B petition from moving forward.
