Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Solution Manager
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and the Solution Manager role. Document how your coursework in business systems, IT management, or organizational design maps to your day-to-day responsibilities before interviews start.
Search LCA filings to target proven sponsors
Use the OFLC Wage Search to filter Labor Condition Application filings by SOC code for management occupations. Employers with recent Solution Manager LCA certifications have already cleared DOL's process, reducing your sponsorship risk significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to find H-1B sponsors
Filter Solution Manager roles on Migrate Mate by employers with verified H-1B filing history. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that have never sponsored the role before.
Clarify the LCA wage level before accepting offers
Your offer letter's salary must meet the prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location. Ask the employer which wage level they're filing under; Level I or II filings for senior Solution Manager roles can trigger USCIS scrutiny during adjudication.
Register before January for cap-subject positions
USCIS opens H-1B lottery registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, confirm your authorization end date against this timeline so your employer files cap-gap or premium processing paperwork without a gap in your work authorization.
Document cross-functional scope in your petition
Solution Manager roles that blend product, operations, and client delivery can face specialty occupation RFEs. Your employer's I-129 supporting letter should tie each responsibility to a specific degree requirement, not just list tasks generically.
H-1B Visa Solution Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Solution Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, information systems, management information systems, or a related discipline. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field can face USCIS challenges. The job description and employer support letter must establish a direct connection between the degree field and the actual duties performed.
How do I find employers who have sponsored H-1B visas for Solution Manager roles?
Migrate Mate filters Solution Manager jobs by employers with verified H-1B filing history, so you're only seeing companies that have already gone through the sponsorship process for this type of role. You can also cross-reference the OFLC Wage Search, which shows certified LCA filings by job title and employer, confirming active sponsorship activity before you apply.
What SOC code does USCIS use for Solution Manager positions?
Solution Manager roles most commonly fall under SOC 11-9199 (Managers, All Other) or 15-1299 (Computer Occupations, All Other), depending on whether the role is primarily business-facing or technical. The SOC code your employer selects affects the prevailing wage requirement, so confirm with your employer which classification they intend to use before the LCA is filed with DOL.
Can my employer file the H-1B petition before I have a confirmed start date?
Yes. Your employer files the I-129 petition with a requested start date, typically October 1 for cap-subject cases. The petition can be filed up to six months before that start date. If you're transitioning from OPT or another visa, your employer should confirm whether cap-gap protection applies to bridge any gap between your current authorization and the H-1B approval.
What should I include in my H-1B petition for a Solution Manager role to avoid an RFE?
The employer's support letter should map each core duty to a specific area of your degree discipline. For Solution Manager roles, that means connecting stakeholder management, solution design, or delivery oversight to coursework in business systems, project management, or IT. A generic letter listing management tasks without tying them to a degree field is the most common reason USCIS issues a Request for Evidence for this occupation.
