H-1B Visa Strategy Intern Jobs
Strategy Intern roles at H-1B-sponsoring employers sit at the intersection of consulting-track work and visa eligibility. Because the position requires a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field to qualify as a specialty occupation, your academic credentials directly determine whether your employer can file an H-1B petition on your behalf.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Strategy Intern
Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the strategy role. A business, economics, or finance degree creates a clean link. A degree in an unrelated field can trigger an RFE, so document how your coursework maps to the position before applying.
Target employers with cap-exempt filing options
Strategy internships at universities, nonprofit research institutions, or government-affiliated think tanks may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B sponsorship. Those placements bypass the annual lottery entirely, which matters most if you're transitioning off OPT before the next cap season.
Check LCA filings for strategy-adjacent job codes
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Labor Condition Application filings under SOC codes for management analysts and business operations specialists. Employers who file for those codes regularly have established sponsorship pipelines that cover strategy intern-to-full-time conversion tracks.
Search verified sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter Migrate Mate by role and visa type to surface employers with confirmed H-1B filing history for strategy and consulting positions. That narrows your list to companies that have already built the internal process to sponsor, not just ones that say they're open to it.
Clarify conversion intent before accepting an offer
Ask the recruiter directly whether the internship has a defined full-time conversion path and whether the company sponsors H-1B petitions for converted hires. Strategy internships that don't convert leave you without a sponsoring employer when your OPT clock runs down.
Time your start date around the H-1B cap window
H-1B petitions for cap-subject employers can only take effect on October 1. If your internship converts to a full-time role, the employer must file during the April registration window for an October start. A summer internship ending in August creates a gap you'll need to bridge with OPT authorization.

Find Strategy Intern JobsStrategy Intern H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Strategy Intern role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like business, economics, finance, or a related discipline. USCIS evaluates whether the job itself demands that specialized degree, not just whether the candidate has one. Internships framed as general business exposure without a defined degree requirement are harder to approve.
Do strategy internships at consulting firms typically lead to H-1B sponsorship?
Consulting firms that regularly hire international students for strategy roles often have structured sponsorship programs tied to return offer conversion. The key variable is whether the firm has filed H-1B petitions for that specific job code before. You can verify this by checking DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data before accepting an offer.
How do I find Strategy Intern roles where the employer already sponsors H-1B visas?
Migrate Mate filters strategy and consulting internships by verified H-1B filing history, so you're only seeing employers who have gone through the sponsorship process before. That's more reliable than relying on a company's careers page, which rarely discloses visa sponsorship policies upfront.
What happens to my H-1B status if my strategy internship ends without a full-time offer?
If your H-1B was tied to that employer, the petition becomes invalid when employment ends. You have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer and transfer your H-1B, change to a different nonimmigrant status, or depart the country. Starting your next job search before the internship ends is the safest approach.
Does the SOC code an employer uses for a strategy intern role affect my H-1B petition?
It affects the prevailing wage level the employer must certify on the Labor Condition Application. Strategy roles filed under management analyst or business operations specialist codes carry different wage floor requirements. You can look up the relevant wage levels by SOC code and location using the OFLC Wage Search to confirm the offer meets DOL standards before USCIS adjudicates the petition.
