H-1B Visa Transportation Manager Jobs
Transportation Manager roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field. Employers in freight, e-commerce, and third-party logistics sponsor H-1B workers regularly. LCA certification under DOL wage levels determines your offer's compliance before USCIS ever sees the petition.

Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS requires a direct connection between your bachelor's degree field and Transportation Manager duties. A degree in supply chain, logistics, industrial engineering, or business administration with a logistics concentration typically satisfies this. A general management degree alone can trigger an RFE.
Search LCA filings by occupation code
Transportation Manager maps to SOC code 11-3071. Use Migrate Mate to filter employers who have filed LCAs under that code, so you're targeting companies with a documented history of sponsoring this exact role rather than guessing at willingness.
Target E-Verify enrolled freight and 3PL employers
Carriers, third-party logistics firms, and e-commerce fulfillment operators who are E-Verify enrolled handle USCIS employment verification routinely. That infrastructure signals an employer already set up for H-1B compliance, reducing friction when you raise sponsorship during the offer stage.
Understand how DOL wage levels affect your offer
Your employer's LCA must certify your salary at or above the prevailing wage for Transportation Manager in your metro area. Run the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating so you know the Level I through Level IV range and can confirm your offer meets the threshold.
Request a cap-exempt filing if the employer qualifies
Transportation Manager roles at universities, affiliated nonprofits, or government research entities may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B sponsorship, bypassing the annual lottery entirely. If you're evaluating offers from logistics or supply chain roles within higher education systems, ask HR directly whether they file cap-exempt petitions.
Align your job duties with the O*NET profile
Before your employer drafts the H-1B support letter, compare your actual job description against the O*NET occupation profile for Transportation Managers. Gaps between listed duties and the O*NET standard are a common RFE trigger for this role, especially in smaller companies writing their first H-1B petition.

Find Transportation Manager JobsTransportation Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Transportation Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as logistics, supply chain management, or industrial engineering. USCIS evaluates the specific duties, not just the job title. Roles that accept any degree or substitute extensive experience for a degree without a theoretical body of knowledge requirement are more vulnerable to a specialty occupation RFE.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Transportation Manager positions?
Freight brokerage, e-commerce fulfillment, third-party logistics, port operations, and large retail distribution networks sponsor Transportation Manager H-1B petitions with the most consistency. These industries operate complex, multi-modal supply chains where a degreed manager is a regulatory or operational standard rather than a preference. You can browse verified LCA filings by employer on Migrate Mate to identify companies with a track record in this occupation code.
How does the H-1B lottery affect my job search timeline as a Transportation Manager?
If you need a new H-1B and aren't already in status, your employer must register you during USCIS's annual registration window, typically in March, for an October 1 start date. That gap can run six months or longer. Some Transportation Manager roles at cap-exempt employers, such as university logistics departments, avoid the lottery entirely and can file year-round with faster approval timelines.
What wage level should I expect on my LCA as a Transportation Manager?
DOL assigns LCA wage levels based on your experience, supervisory responsibilities, and the complexity of decisions your role requires. A Transportation Manager overseeing a regional fleet with independent budget authority typically falls at Level III or IV in most metropolitan areas. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for SOC code 11-3071 in your specific work location before accepting an offer.
Can I switch employers mid-H-1B if I get a better Transportation Manager offer?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 allows you to change employers once your I-140 has been approved for 180 days, or if you're transferring to a new employer who files an H-1B transfer petition before your current status expires. Your new employer must file a new LCA and I-129 covering the Transportation Manager role at the new location, including a fresh prevailing wage determination for that worksite.
