Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Veterinary Cardiologist
Verify your board certification timeline early
USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation claims for veterinary subspecialists. Having ACVIM cardiology diplomate status before filing strengthens your petition significantly. If you're mid-residency, confirm your employer will file before your current status expires.
Target referral hospitals with established HR infrastructure
Specialty and emergency referral hospitals routinely hire veterinary cardiologists and often have existing immigration counsel relationships. Academic veterinary medical centers at land-grant universities are similarly positioned to sponsor H-1B petitions without building a process from scratch.
Search LCA filings for cardiology-specific job codes
Use the OFLC Wage Search to find employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications under veterinary and animal care SOC codes. Employers with recent LCA filings in your specialty have already cleared DOL's prevailing wage process and are faster to move.
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by H-1B filing history
Pull up Veterinary Cardiologist listings on Migrate Mate to see which employers have active H-1B sponsorship records. This filters out practices that have never filed and focuses your applications on verified sponsors in your subspecialty.
Negotiate filing timeline into your offer letter
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed for an October 1 start. If your offer comes after April 1, your start date shifts a full year. Get written confirmation of the employer's filing calendar and premium processing intentions before signing.
Prepare a specialty occupation support memo with your offer
Veterinary cardiology is niche enough that USCIS may issue an RFE questioning whether the role genuinely requires subspecialty training. A detailed position description mapping ACVIM residency requirements to the job duties pre-empts this and speeds adjudication.

Find Veterinary Cardiologist JobsVeterinary Cardiologist H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Veterinary Cardiologist role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS defines specialty occupation as a role requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a specific field. Veterinary Cardiology requires a DVM or VMD plus completion of an ACVIM-accredited cardiology residency, well above that threshold. Employers should document the subspecialty training requirement in the petition to preempt any Request for Evidence.
Which types of employers commonly sponsor H-1B visas for Veterinary Cardiologists?
Veterinary specialty and emergency referral hospitals, academic veterinary medical centers, and large multi-specialty practices are the most common H-1B sponsors for this role. These organizations regularly hire ACVIM diplomates, have established relationships with immigration attorneys, and are familiar with the LCA and I-129 filing process. You can browse verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate.
How does ACVIM board certification affect my H-1B petition?
ACVIM diplomate status in cardiology significantly strengthens a specialty occupation claim because it establishes that the role requires postgraduate subspecialty training beyond a DVM. If you're still completing your residency, your employer can file with a future start date, but you'll need documentation that board eligibility or certification will be met before you begin work.
What is the prevailing wage for Veterinary Cardiologist H-1B filings and how is it set?
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for the relevant SOC code in the geographic area where you'll work. You can look up applicable wage levels using the OFLC Wage Search by occupation and location. The wage level assigned, from Level I through Level IV, depends on your experience, supervisory duties, and how complex the position is relative to others in the field.
Can a small specialty practice sponsor an H-1B for a Veterinary Cardiologist?
Yes, employer size doesn't disqualify a practice from sponsoring an H-1B. Smaller practices do face more administrative complexity because they may lack in-house HR or prior immigration experience. They'll need to work with an immigration attorney to file the LCA with DOL and the I-129 with USCIS, and must demonstrate financial ability to pay the certified prevailing wage for the duration of your status.
