Document the specialty occupation connection clearly
Pull the O*NET profile for Warehouse Lead roles and identify the degree fields listed as required. Your application needs to show the job demands a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree, to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Warehouse Lead positions by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this occupation code. Prior LCA activity signals the employer understands H-1B obligations and has already established prevailing wage compliance infrastructure.
Verify the prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up wage levels for your specific metro area and occupation code before negotiations. Your offered salary must meet at least Level 1 prevailing wage, and Level 2 or higher strengthens your petition significantly.
Ask whether the employer is E-Verify enrolled
E-Verify enrollment isn't required for all H-1B sponsors, but unenrolled employers face additional scrutiny during USCIS adjudication. Confirming enrollment status before the offer stage avoids delays after your petition is filed.
Clarify job duties in writing before the I-129 is filed
Warehouse Lead roles vary widely across employers. Get a detailed job description that lists supervisory duties, technical systems used, and degree requirements before your employer files Form I-129. Vague duty language is a common trigger for Requests for Evidence.
Account for cap timing in your start date negotiation
H-1B cap-subject petitions have an October 1 start date. If you're negotiating an offer in the spring, your earliest cap-subject start is October 1 of that fiscal year. Build this into your offer letter timeline to avoid mismatched expectations with the employer.
H-1B Visa Warehouse Lead: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Warehouse Lead job qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It depends on how the employer defines the role. USCIS requires the position to normally demand a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not just any degree. Warehouse Lead roles with duties tied to supply chain systems, industrial engineering, or operations management are more defensible than general supervisory roles. The employer's job description and industry norms both factor into how USCIS evaluates the petition.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Warehouse Lead positions?
Logistics companies, large e-commerce fulfillment operators, and manufacturers with complex distribution networks are the most active sponsors for this occupation. You can find employers with verified H-1B filing history for Warehouse Lead roles on Migrate Mate, which surfaces Labor Condition Application data by occupation code and employer location.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Warehouse Lead employer mid-status?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed, provided your prior petition was approved and you've maintained valid status. The new employer must file a new Form I-129, and the role must still qualify as a specialty occupation.
What happens if USCIS sends a Request for Evidence on my Warehouse Lead petition?
An RFE on a Warehouse Lead petition typically challenges whether the role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Your employer's immigration attorney should respond with industry wage surveys, job postings from comparable employers requiring a bachelor's degree, and documentation of your specific duties. You have up to 87 days to respond, and the clock starts from the RFE issue date.
Does my employer need to pay H-1B filing fees for a Warehouse Lead role?
Yes. The employer is legally required to pay USCIS filing fees for the H-1B petition, including the base I-129 fee and applicable ACWIA training fees. Employers subject to the asylum program surcharge pay an additional amount set by USCIS. You can't be required to reimburse these fees while employed, and some fees can't be recouped even after separation.
