H-1B1 Chile Visa Automation Jobs
H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship lets Chilean automation professionals work in the U.S. without entering the H-1B lottery. The 1,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, and your application goes directly to a U.S. consulate. Roles in industrial automation, controls engineering, and robotics integration qualify when they require a relevant bachelor's degree.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Automation Jobs
Align your degree to automation SOC codes
Consular officers verify that your Chilean engineering or computer science degree matches the specific O*NET occupation code your employer lists. Check the O*NET profile for your target role before applying so there are no surprises at the interview.
Confirm prevailing wage using OFLC Wage Search
Your employer must certify your offered salary meets DOL prevailing wage for your automation job title and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search yourself so you can flag any underpayment before the Labor Condition Application is filed.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to find employers who have already filed Labor Condition Applications for automation and controls roles. Companies with existing LCA history understand the H-1B1 Chile process and won't need convincing that it works.
Prepare Chilean credential equivalency documentation early
U.S. consular officers assess whether your Chilean university degree meets U.S. bachelor's equivalency standards. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member evaluator before your employer starts the LCA, not after you receive an offer.
Use the H-1B1 Chile cap to negotiate start dates
Because the annual 1,400-visa allocation almost never fills, you aren't locked into an October 1 start date the way H-1B holders are. You can negotiate a start date that aligns with project timelines rather than the federal fiscal year.
Understand how status changes affect automation contracts
H-1B1 visa Chile status is employer-specific, so switching from one automation contractor to another requires a new LCA and consular stamp. Build at least 60 days of transition time into any job change plan to avoid a gap in authorized employment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do automation jobs qualify for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, automation roles qualify when they require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or industrial engineering. Titles like controls engineer, automation engineer, robotics systems engineer, and PLC programmer regularly appear in certified Labor Condition Applications. The consular officer will verify the degree-to-role match at your interview.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from the H-1B for automation professionals?
The H-1B requires surviving a randomized lottery with roughly a one-in-four chance of selection; the H-1B1 Chile has no lottery at all and an annual cap of 1,400 visas that rarely fills. Your application also bypasses USCIS and goes directly to the U.S. consulate, cutting months from the timeline. The trade-off is that H-1B1 Chile does not confer dual intent, so immigrant visa planning requires separate steps.
How can I find automation employers who sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified Labor Condition Application filing history for automation and controls roles, so you can focus on companies that have already navigated the H-1B1 Chile process. Filtering by LCA data is more reliable than guessing from job postings, which rarely mention the specific visa types a company will sponsor.
Can my employer file the H-1B1 Chile LCA for a remote automation role?
The LCA is tied to a specific work location, and DOL requires a prevailing wage determination for wherever you will physically work. If you'll work remotely from a U.S. address, that address becomes the certified worksite. Employers must post the LCA notice at that location and ensure the offered wage meets prevailing wage for that specific metropolitan area, not their headquarters.
What happens to my H-1B1 Chile status if my automation project ends early?
H-1B1 Chile status is tied to your specific employer and the employment terms in your LCA. If your role ends, you don't have a statutory grace period codified the way H-1B holders do under the 60-day rule. You should begin a new employer's LCA process or take steps to change status as soon as you know the position is ending to avoid a lapse in authorized stay.
