Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Category Manager
Align your credentials with specialty occupation standards
Category Manager roles must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a directly related field like supply chain, business, or economics. Pull the O*NET profile for your occupation code to document the degree requirement before any employer conversation.
Target employers with active supply chain teams
Retail, manufacturing, and healthcare companies with centralized procurement functions are your strongest sponsorship prospects. Cross-reference DOL LCA disclosure data to identify which employers have filed for procurement and supply chain roles in the past two years.
Search H-1B1 Chile jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship and shows verified LCA filing history by occupation, so you can see which employers have sponsored Category Manager roles rather than guessing from generic job postings.
Confirm your offer letter specifies your job duties
Your offer letter must describe Category Manager duties in enough detail to support specialty occupation classification at the consulate. Vague titles like 'manager' without sourcing, vendor negotiation, or category strategy language have caused administrative delays.
Understand the prevailing wage requirement before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the Level I through Level IV wage tiers for Category Manager roles in your target city before you get to the offer stage.
Prepare for consular interview questions about your role
H-1B1 visa Chile applications go directly to a U.S. consulate in Chile, not USCIS. Consular officers assess specialty occupation on the spot, so bring your degree transcripts, a detailed job description, and the certified LCA to demonstrate that your Category Manager role requires your specific academic background.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Category Manager role qualify for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
Yes, if the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as supply chain management, business administration, or economics. The key test is whether the job duties, not just the title, genuinely require that specialized degree. Employers document this through the Labor Condition Application filed with DOL before your consulate appointment.
How is the H-1B1 Chile visa different from H-1B for Category Manager roles?
The H-1B1 Chile visa skips the lottery entirely and is processed at the U.S. consulate in Chile rather than through USCIS, so there's no random selection and no multi-month USCIS adjudication wait. The 1,400-visa annual cap has never filled. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 Chile doesn't allow dual intent, meaning it's harder to pursue a green card simultaneously while on this status.
How do I find employers who sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas for Category Manager positions?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point. It shows employer LCA filing history filtered specifically for H-1B1 Chile sponsorship, so you can identify companies that have actually sponsored procurement and supply chain roles rather than relying on job postings that mention sponsorship without a track record. Focus on employers with repeat filings in your occupation code.
What documents does my employer need to file before my consulate appointment?
Your employer must file and receive a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL before you can apply at the consulate. The LCA confirms your wages meet the prevailing wage for your occupation and work location. Unlike H-1B visa, the employer does not file an I-129 petition with USCIS first, so the certified LCA is the primary employer-side document you'll bring to your interview.
Can I switch Category Manager employers while on H-1B1 Chile status?
Yes, but you can't port to a new employer the way H-1B holders can under portability rules. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA, and you'll need to return to Chile for a new consulate appointment before starting work with them. Planning that transition carefully, especially around notice periods and consulate wait times, matters more for H-1B1 Chile holders than for H-1B holders.
