Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Group Product Manager
Translate your degree into specialty occupation language
H-1B1 Chile requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Pull the O*NET profile for Group Product Manager and match your academic credentials in business, engineering, or computer science to the listed degree requirements before applying.
Search LCA filings filtered by occupation code
Employers must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before sponsoring any H-1B1 visa worker. Use the OFLC Wage Search to find companies that have certified LCAs for product management roles, then target those employers directly in your outreach.
Frame your roadmap experience for technical employers
H-1B1 Chile sponsorship is most common at companies with established engineering organizations. Emphasize cross-functional roadmap ownership, technical backlog prioritization, and experience working with software or infrastructure teams rather than leading pure go-to-market functions.
Find sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Search for Group Product Manager roles on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship history using DOL Labor Condition Application data so you're only targeting employers with a verified filing record for this visa type.
Clarify the LCA timing with your future employer
Unlike H-1B visa, your employer doesn't petition USCIS before your consulate appointment. The LCA must be DOL-certified before you apply, so confirm with hiring managers that their immigration counsel has started the LCA process before you schedule your visa interview.
Prepare for consular nonimmigrant intent scrutiny
H-1B1 Chile is a nonimmigrant visa that doesn't support dual intent, so consular officers assess ties to Chile. Bring documentation of ongoing Chilean connections alongside your employment offer and certified LCA to demonstrate clear intent to return.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Group Product Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Chile?
Yes, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, computer science, or engineering. Generic titles don't automatically qualify. The employer must document in the LCA that the position requires specialized knowledge and a directly related degree, not just any bachelor's degree.
How does H-1B1 Chile differ from H-1B for a Group Product Manager?
The H-1B1 Chile visa has no lottery, no USCIS petition, and processes directly at the consulate, making it faster and more predictable for Chilean nationals. The annual cap is 1,400 visas and rarely reaches capacity. The trade-off is that H-1B1 doesn't allow dual intent, so you can't use it as a direct path to a green card the way some H-1B holders do.
How do I find Group Product Manager jobs where employers already understand H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Group Product Manager roles filtered by H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship history. Most employers familiar with H-1B are unfamiliar with H-1B1 Chile specifically, so targeting companies with a verified LCA filing history for this visa type saves significant time in the application process.
What happens to my H-1B1 Chile status if my Group Product Manager role is restructured or eliminated?
Your H-1B1 Chile status is tied to the specific position and employer named in the LCA. If the role changes substantially or you're laid off, your authorized stay ends. USCIS provides a 60-day grace period after employment ends, during which you can pursue a new employer-sponsored LCA or change visa status.
Can my employer file the H-1B1 Chile LCA without a specialized immigration attorney?
Employers can file directly through the DOL's FLAG system without legal counsel, but most companies route it through immigration attorneys to avoid LCA errors that delay certification. As the applicant, verify that your employer has submitted and received DOL certification before you book your consulate appointment, since you can't proceed without it.
