Align your degree to sales operations
The H-1B1 visa requires a specialty occupation, so pull your Chilean university transcripts and confirm your business, industrial engineering, or economics degree maps directly to the Sales Operations analyst or manager role you're targeting. A degree in an unrelated field weakens the petition.
Search employers by LCA filing history
Use the OFLC Wage Search to filter Labor Condition Applications filed under the H-1B1 Chile category. Companies that have filed before understand the process and won't stall at the 'we don't sponsor visas' stage when you raise it.
Find H-1B1 Chile sales roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters jobs by H-1B1 Chile sponsorship specifically, so you're not cold-applying to roles where the employer has never filed an LCA. Start your search there and target companies with verified filing history in operations or go-to-market functions.
Get your prevailing wage tier right early
Run the O*NET code for Sales Operations (typically 11-2022 or 13-1161) through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer stage. Knowing the DOL wage level for your metro area lets you negotiate a salary the employer can certify without an LCA amendment later.
Ask about the LCA timeline before accepting
DOL certifies a completed LCA within seven business days. Once your employer has the certified LCA in hand, your consulate appointment can proceed. Confirm your hiring manager knows this sequence so the offer letter isn't contingent on USCIS processing times, which don't apply here.
Prepare for consular intent questions specific to your role
H-1B1 visa is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers will ask about your ties to Chile and your intent to return. Sales Operations professionals should document ongoing Chilean business relationships, client accounts, or professional memberships that reinforce nonimmigrant intent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sales Operations qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, if the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business administration, industrial engineering, finance, or a quantitative discipline. Sales Operations positions that involve revenue forecasting, CRM architecture, pipeline analytics, or go-to-market strategy typically satisfy the specialty occupation definition. Roles requiring only general sales experience without a degree requirement are harder to support.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa compare to the H-1B for a Sales Operations professional?
The H-1B1 Chile visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely and is processed at the consulate rather than through USCIS, so there's no petition filing wait. The annual cap is 1,400 visas for Chilean nationals and has never been exhausted. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 doesn't carry dual intent, meaning you can't simultaneously pursue a green card while on this status the way some H-1B holders do.
How do I find Sales Operations employers who will sponsor the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Sales Operations roles by H-1B1 Chile sponsorship, showing employers with verified Labor Condition Application filing history. Targeting companies that have filed before cuts through the education process with HR and speeds up the offer-to-visa timeline considerably.
What documents does my employer need to file the Labor Condition Application for my Sales Operations role?
Your employer files the LCA with DOL through the FLAG system and must certify that your offered wage meets or exceeds the prevailing wage for the Sales Operations occupation in your work location. They'll need your job title, the relevant SOC code, the worksite address, and the employment start date. DOL certifies a complete LCA within seven business days.
Can I change employers or move into a different Sales Operations role while on H-1B1 Chile status?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL before you begin work. Unlike H-1B portability rules, there's no grace period that lets you start immediately under a pending filing. Plan the employer transition so the new LCA is certified and your consulate documentation is updated before your start date with the new company.
