H-1B1 Chile Visa Software Engineer Jobs
H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship lets Chilean software engineers work in the U.S. without entering the H-1B lottery. With a 1,400-visa annual cap that rarely fills and consulate-based processing, qualified candidates with a U.S. job offer in a specialty occupation can secure status faster than most work visa routes.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Software Engineer
Confirm your role meets specialty occupation
H-1B1 visa requires a theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge. Use O*NET to verify your software engineering job zone and confirm your bachelor's degree field directly supports the offered role before applying.
Request LCA certification before your interview
Your employer must file and receive a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL before your consulate appointment. Delays here are the most common reason Chilean applicants miss their interview window, so confirm certification timing upfront.
Target employers enrolled in E-Verify
Employers who already use E-Verify understand federal employment authorization requirements and are more familiar with nonimmigrant work authorization workflows. This signals operational readiness for H-1B1 sponsorship rather than a first-time learning curve.
Use Migrate Mate to find H-1B1-filing employers
Search for software engineering roles on Migrate Mate, which filters employers by H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history. This narrows your list to companies that have actively sponsored Chilean professionals rather than those who may sponsor in theory.
Verify your prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Run your target job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search to identify the DOL wage level your employer must certify. Level I and Level II distinctions affect what salary the LCA can support and what you can negotiate.
Prepare a credential evaluation for non-four-year degrees
Consular officers may question Chilean licenciatura degrees that differ structurally from U.S. bachelor's degrees. A credential evaluation from a NACES-member evaluator documenting U.S. equivalency strengthens your specialty occupation documentation at the visa interview.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a software engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes. Software engineering consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation because the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Your employer confirms this in the Labor Condition Application and supporting documentation. If your job title is broad, the position description must establish that the work requires that specific degree field.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from the H-1B for software engineers?
The H-1B1 Chile visa has no lottery, a 1,400-visa annual cap that has never been exhausted, and is processed at the U.S. consulate in Chile rather than through USCIS. H-1B requires employer petition approval through USCIS before consular processing and enters a lottery when oversubscribed. For Chilean software engineers with a job offer, the H-1B1 path is significantly faster and more predictable.
Where can I find software engineer employers who have sponsored H-1B1 Chile visas?
Migrate Mate filters software engineering roles by employers with H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history, so you can target companies that have actively gone through the sponsorship process for Chilean nationals. This is more reliable than reaching out to employers who indicate general visa sponsorship willingness without a track record specific to the H-1B1.
Can my employer sponsor me for H-1B1 without prior immigration experience?
Yes, but the process has specific DOL and consulate requirements your employer must meet, including filing a certified LCA before your visa interview. Employers new to H-1B1 sponsorship often underestimate LCA lead times or misclassify the prevailing wage level. Walking your employer through the USCIS H-1B1 guidance early reduces filing errors that delay your start date.
Does the H-1B1 Chile visa allow dual intent for software engineers pursuing a green card?
No. The H-1B1 is a nonimmigrant visa that does not permit dual intent, meaning you cannot simultaneously maintain an immigrant visa petition without jeopardizing your H-1B1 status. Software engineers planning a long-term green card path typically need to transition to H-1B or another immigrant-intent-compatible status before beginning that process.
