About the job
In this role, you will be at the intersection of hardware prototyping, robotics and software. You will design and build the physical test infrastructure - fixtures, multi-axis alignment rigs, and automated stages - that lets engineering teams verify sensor performance on XR hardware. You will also build the software that drives it: full-stack tools that control robotic testing and validation setup, capture data, and turn raw measurements into actionable results, and the setups are built to be scalable to be used by internal partners and external vendors. You are equally comfortable at a CAD workstation, a Python terminal, and an optical bench — and can translate a one-off lab setup into a documented, scalable system that other teams and AI-assisted tooling can build on.
For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world driven by breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
- Design custom optomechanical test fixtures and multi-axis motion control setups using 3D prototyping and rigorous mechanical alignment tolerances to validate AR/VR hardware.
- Develop full-stack software and automated calibration pipelines for camera intrinsics, extrinsics, and display alignment using Python and computer vision.
- Perform optical alignment and validation using reference targets, camera-based self-alignment, and automated simulation scripts prior to physical builds.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to build scalable automation software and document reusable test frameworks across future hardware programs.
- Partner cross-functionally with optics, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to transition lab-validated methods into scalable, production-ready infrastructure.

Verify your degree field matches the role
Solutions Consultant roles must qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Confirm your computer science, engineering, or business degree maps to the specific technical or consulting scope in your job description before applying.
Pull the prevailing wage before negotiating
Run the OFLC Wage Search using SOC code 15-1299 or 41-3099 and the employer's work location before your offer call. Your LCA wage must meet Level I through Level IV thresholds, and knowing the floor strengthens your negotiation position.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter companies that have already filed Labor Condition Applications for Solutions Consultant or related technical sales roles. Employers with existing LCA history understand the H-1B1 Singapore process and won't treat your visa as an obstacle.
Prepare a specialty occupation justification memo
Many Solutions Consultant postings say a degree is 'preferred,' not required. Ask your employer to document in writing why the role demands a degree in a specific field. This memo supports both the LCA filing and any consular questioning about the position.
Confirm your employer is not H-1B1-exempt naive
Some HR teams conflate H-1B1 Singapore with the H-1B lottery process and decline to proceed. Clarify upfront that H-1B visa1 requires no USCIS petition and no lottery slot. DOL LCA certification and a consular appointment are all that's needed from the employer side.
Time your consular appointment around LCA certification
DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days. Schedule your U.S. consulate appointment in Singapore only after certification is confirmed. Arriving at the interview without a certified LCA will result in a postponed appointment and a delayed start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Solutions Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, if the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as computer science, information systems, or engineering. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field may not qualify. The employer documents the specialty occupation requirement in the Labor Condition Application, and you confirm it at your consulate interview.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to the H-1B for Solutions Consultant roles?
The H-1B1 visa skips the lottery entirely and requires no USCIS petition filing, so your employer avoids several thousand dollars in government fees and months of processing uncertainty. The trade-off is that H-1B1 does not confer dual intent, meaning it cannot be used as a direct stepping stone to a green card the way an approved H-1B petition can.
How do I find Solutions Consultant employers who already sponsor the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified LCA filing history, so you can identify employers who have already sponsored workers in Solutions Consultant or closely related technical roles. Targeting these companies cuts down on time spent educating HR teams about H-1B1 visa eligibility and reduces the risk of an offer falling through late in the process.
What documents do I need to bring to the H-1B1 consulate interview in Singapore?
Bring your certified LCA, a signed offer letter confirming the specialty occupation and salary, your academic transcripts and degree certificate, a valid passport, your DS-160 confirmation, and the MRV fee receipt. Consular officers routinely ask Solutions Consultant applicants to explain the technical scope of the role and how their degree field directly relates to it.
Can my H-1B1 Singapore visa be renewed if my Solutions Consultant role changes significantly?
Yes, but a material change in job duties, location, or salary requires a new LCA filing before the change takes effect. If your role shifts from pure consulting to a management or generalist function that no longer demands a specific degree field, the specialty occupation basis for the H-1B1 visa may need to be re-evaluated with your employer's immigration contact.
