Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Technical Product Manager
Verify your degree field matches the role
The H-1B1 visa requires a specialty occupation tied to a specific academic discipline. For Technical Product Manager roles, a degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems carries more weight than a general business degree when the consular officer evaluates your application.
Search DOL LCA filings by occupation code
Before applying, pull the SOC code for Technical Product Manager from O*NET, then cross-reference it against public LCA disclosure data through OFLC. Employers who have filed LCAs for this occupation code have already navigated the H-1B1 visa process and are far more likely to do it again.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring employers
Target companies whose H-1B1 Singapore LCA filing history shows active sponsorship for product roles. Migrate Mate surfaces this DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer and occupation, so you're not guessing which companies will actually sponsor the visa.
Request the LCA before your I-129S is filed
Your employer must certify the LCA with DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Confirm with the hiring team that the LCA reflects your actual job title, worksite, and the prevailing wage level verified through the OFLC Wage Search, not a placeholder role or location.
Prepare a written product scope document for your interview
Consular officers assess whether your role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Bring a concise document outlining your product domain, technical decision-making authority, and cross-functional responsibilities. This distinguishes a qualifying Technical Product Manager role from a generalist project coordination position.
Clarify your admission period terms before you travel
H-1B1 Singapore status is granted in one-year increments, not the three-year periods common with H-1B visa. Confirm with your employer that they plan to file renewals annually, so your work authorization doesn't lapse between the end of your admission period and your next consulate appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Technical Product Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Singapore?
Yes, if the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related technical field such as computer science, engineering, or information systems. The consular officer will assess whether the position actually demands that specialized knowledge. A role where any business graduate could perform the core functions is harder to qualify. Having your employer document the technical scope of the product domain and your decision-making authority significantly strengthens the application.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from H-1B for Technical Product Manager roles?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and is processed at the U.S. consulate rather than through USCIS, which means your employer avoids filing Form I-129 and waiting for USCIS adjudication. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 status is issued in one-year increments rather than three, so your employer needs to support annual renewals. The 5,400-visa cap for Singapore rarely fills, so timing is driven by consulate appointment availability rather than lottery odds.
How do I find employers who will sponsor an H-1B1 Singapore visa for a Technical Product Manager position?
Migrate Mate filters employers by their DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, so you can see which companies have actively sponsored H-1B1 Singapore visas for product and technical roles. This is more reliable than applying broadly and hoping the employer is familiar with the process, since many companies default to H-1B or decline to sponsor unless they've done it before.
What documents should I bring to my H-1B1 Singapore consulate interview for a Technical Product Manager role?
Bring your certified LCA, DS-160 confirmation, valid passport, offer letter, educational credentials, and any documentation that demonstrates your product role requires specialized technical knowledge. A brief written summary of your product scope, technical stack involvement, and cross-functional responsibilities helps the officer confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation rather than a general management position.
Can I switch employers while on H-1B1 Singapore status as a Technical Product Manager?
Yes, but the H-1B1 visa doesn't carry H-1B portability rules, so your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new consulate appointment before starting work, unless you file for a change of status inside the U.S. Plan the transition carefully because your work authorization is tied to the specific employer and worksite listed on your active LCA and admission documents.
