Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Sales Consultant
Verify your role qualifies as agricultural
H-2A visa covers temporary agricultural labor, so confirm the Sales Consultant position is tied to a seasonal farm operation, not a year-round retail or wholesale business. DOL scrutinizes roles that blend agricultural and commercial functions during the petition review.
Pull your O*NET occupation profile early
Use O*NET to identify the official task descriptions and skill requirements for Sales Consultants in agricultural settings. Employers must reference these in the job order, and your resume should mirror that language to pass DOL's job matching review.
Target employers with active H-2A job orders
Search Migrate Mate to find agricultural employers with verified H-2A sponsorship history for sales-related roles. Applying to employers already familiar with the H-2A process shortens your timeline and reduces the risk of a withdrawn petition.
Prepare documentation proving sales experience in agriculture
Gather letters of reference, pay stubs, or contracts from previous seasonal agricultural employers that confirm your consultative or customer-facing sales duties. Generic retail experience rarely satisfies DOL's specialty requirement for agricultural sales positions under H-2A.
Confirm housing and transportation terms before signing
Your employer must provide free housing that meets federal and state safety standards and cover transportation costs to and from your home country. Get these commitments in writing in the job offer before USCIS files the petition, not after arrival.
Check AEWR rates against your offered wage
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the current Adverse Effect Wage Rate for your state and occupation. Your employer must pay the higher of the AEWR or prevailing wage, so verify the offered rate matches before the labor certification clears.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Sales Consultant jobs that offer H-2A visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the fastest way to find agricultural employers actively sponsoring H-2A visas for Sales Consultant roles. Because H-2A petitions are employer-filed, you need to identify operators already running seasonal sales programs tied to farm production, agri-tourism, or cooperative marketing. Migrate Mate filters for employers with verified H-2A sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to employers unfamiliar with the process.
What housing and transportation must an H-2A employer provide for Sales Consultants?
H-2A employers are required to provide free housing that meets DOL and applicable state health and safety standards for the full duration of your employment. They must also cover transportation costs from your home country to the worksite at the start of the contract and back at the end. If you're moving between worksites during the season, inbound transportation between those locations is also the employer's responsibility.
Does a Sales Consultant role qualify for H-2A if it involves office or retail work?
The role qualifies only if it's tied to a seasonal agricultural operation, such as selling farm products at a roadside stand, supporting agri-tourism bookings, or coordinating wholesale produce accounts during harvest. DOL will reject a petition if the duties are primarily indoor retail or year-round commercial sales with only a loose connection to agricultural production.
How does the H-2A wage requirement apply to Sales Consultant positions?
Your employer must pay the higher of the Adverse Effect Wage Rate for your state and occupation or the prevailing wage determined by DOL. For Sales Consultant roles, the prevailing wage is calculated based on the specific occupation code assigned during the labor certification process. You can verify the applicable rate yourself using the OFLC Wage Search before accepting any offer.
