Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Conference Services Manager
Pull your O*NET occupation profile first
Conference Services Manager falls under a specific SOC code that determines your H-2B visa job classification. Pull the O*NET profile for your role before applying so you can verify that your duties and your employer's job order description match the classification exactly.
Check the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating
Your employer's H-2B labor certification must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search yourself so you know the floor before you discuss compensation, not after the offer is already on the table.
Target properties with established peak seasons
Conference and event venues at ski resorts, beach destinations, and convention-heavy markets run predictable busy seasons, which makes it easier for employers to document the temporary need DOL requires. Focus your search on properties where seasonal demand patterns are clear and recurring.
Search Migrate Mate for verified H-2B employers
Conference Services Manager roles with active H-2B sponsorship don't always surface on general job boards. Search Migrate Mate to find employers whose DOL Labor Condition Application filing history confirms they've sponsored this visa category, so you're not guessing about sponsorship willingness.
Confirm the correct cap half before your employer files
The 66,000 annual H-2B cap splits into 33,000 for October through March start dates and 33,000 for April through September. Conference venues often hire for summer or fall event seasons, and filing into the wrong half-year can delay or block your certification.
Request a copy of the certified labor certification
Once DOL certifies your employer's temporary labor certification, ask for a copy before USCIS adjudicates the I-129 petition. The certification lists your job duties, worksite, and authorized period, and you'll need to verify those details match your actual role at the property.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Conference Services Manager jobs with H-2B sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find Conference Services Manager openings at employers who have filed H-2B temporary labor certifications with the DOL. General job boards rarely filter by visa sponsorship type, so you can spend weeks applying to roles at employers who have never sponsored H-2B workers. Searching specifically for employers with a documented H-2B filing history cuts that uncertainty out of the process.
How does the H-2B annual cap affect my application timeline?
USCIS issues only 66,000 H-2B visas per fiscal year, split evenly between the two half-year periods. Cap numbers fill quickly, and supplemental allocations are not guaranteed each year. For conference and event properties, your employer needs to submit the DOL temporary labor certification early enough to file the I-129 petition before the relevant half-year cap is exhausted. Missing the cap window typically means waiting until the next filing period.
What documents do I need to support an H-2B Conference Services Manager application?
You'll need evidence that you meet the qualifications listed in your employer's DOL-certified job order, which typically includes prior experience coordinating events or managing conference operations. Relevant credentials, employment verification letters from past roles, and any hospitality certifications you hold strengthen the petition. Your employer handles the labor certification and I-129 filing, but they'll rely on your documentation to establish that you qualify for the specific role.
Can I change employers or properties after arriving on an H-2B visa?
Your H-2B status is tied to the specific employer and worksite named in the certified labor certification and I-129 petition. Moving to a different property or company requires your new employer to complete their own DOL temporary labor certification and file a new I-129 with USCIS before you begin work there. Working for an employer not listed on your petition puts your status at risk, so confirm the new filing is approved before making any move.
